Killzone 2 - a bandwidth hogger?

Over the month of March, I've seen a MASSIVE increase in my internet usage. (MTNL DSL).

Some days, (like for example HOLI) I've seen data transfers of 300 to 375 MB for 5-6 hours of continuous gaming.

This wasn't the case with COD4.

Fortunately I have Night unlimited - BUT - I've suffered a loss of Rs. 2300/- (thats 1.5 GB to 2 GB of datta transfer) because of KZ2 gaming.

Has anyone else experienced the same?

i aint surprised. Games like Battlefield 2 etc on the pc easily eat up around 100 mb (download+upload) in an hour.

Since killzone 2 has massive ammounts of players in each server its kinda expected it would use a ton of bandwidth too.

Like Lastavenger said most of us that play online multiplayer have unlimited plans. Since you already have night unlimited

you could always play at night instead....

Thats why people have unlimited lines all the time. You will notice 95% gamers here have unlimited plans.

So true! Airtel 1mbps unlimited rocks :majesty: I don't own a PS3 yet, I was wondering, how is the lag with online games? which region games do you play? In Singapore you get region 2 and 3, playing on region 1(US) makes no sense.

i dont think region matters that much....but most gamers will have the PAL region....also most of us dont lag with even 512kbps connections....1mbps will have absolutely no lag i guess

The data transfer is not extremely high - seems to be about 50 mb an hour. Given the very high number of players that's ok. In fact there are games like TF2 which will automatically show hosts with lesser number of players if the bandwidth is low.

Lag doesn't depend on the bandwidth if you are above the required limit, e.g., for KZ2 anything above 256kbps won't make much difference in the lag. It just depends on how much time does it take for the packets to reach you from the server and the other way round. A good measure of this can be seen from the ping times.

Quite true.. ping times are more important... if you are a gamer, anything above 200ms (or ideally above 150ms) is a kill & will definitely cause lags.. From what i have read & heard, Tata Indicom & BSNL/MTNL provide the best pings while

Airtel is plain bad with miserable ping times... plz dont kill me.. thats is what i have read online & heard from many many unsatisfied Airtel customers..
