imalreadyfor
No region locking as far as I know. Playstation owners get in now to confirm. On the matter of price cuts, nothing yet. Just a lot of people wishing and thus speculating.
Bulovski
Blu ray movies are region locked. Games are mostly not region locked. However, I believe MP is locked by region.

Hot-Drake-Pixel
PS3+HDMI out = ALL ps3 games region free PS3 on SD = Some PS3 games are region locked Any PS3(HD/SD) * with backward compatibility = PS2 games locked to consoles region Blu-ray drive region locked. Hence region A console is the best as you get the widest and cheapest range of blu-rays in Region A.

punit
As for SD-DVDs you get here, you won't be able to play them in PS3 bought from US. I know games are region-free but i've never understood the reason for specifying the region code on the Games cover/case
