dunno if this is the right place to post this, but...

i've seen a lot of ppl sidestepping on halo 3. like moving right, left, left, right etc. if i have no nade/shield advantage, i always get taken down. i've tried it myself but dont seem to be getting the hang of it. any suggestions?

<edit>i play with with sensitivity set @ 5

Well, it's called Strafing and it's the key to winning BR Battles along with a steady BR. All you need to do is be unpredictable, like, don't always do the same type of strafe. Try to mix it up.

Strafing is very tough to master and doesn't always help. It'll take some time but then you'll get the hang of it.

Also, strafing is important in the sense that if two ppl start shooting each other at the same time and both of them have a good BR, then the one with the better strafe could win the BR Battle.

Heh... thanks, but i know what strafing is. My fault, i should have been more specific -

> What is the max range at which it is useful - 10m was my guess

> It looks like the person strafing is moving faster than normal... is that just me being slow or is it really happening?

> What distance do you move with every step

> Do you shoot anytime during the strafe or only at the end of every step

> Is it any use jumping in close quarters

> How does auto aim work and how can it be thrown off?

> When does it not help?

Also, ppl seem to be able to lunge in with normal weapons, somewhat like after a lock on with the sword - under what conditions does this happen?

Thanks

1. What is the max range at which it is useful - 10m was my guess

2. It looks like the person strafing is moving faster than normal... is that just me being slow or is it really happening?

3. What distance do you move with every step

3. Do you shoot anytime during the strafe or only at the end of every step

4. Is it any use jumping in close quarters

5. How does auto aim work and how can it be thrown off?

6. When does it not help?

7. Also, ppl seem to be able to lunge in with normal weapons, somewhat like after a lock on with the sword - under what conditions does this happen?

1. It's useful at every range. At shorter range, it throws off the opponents BR and at longer range, where there is more BR Spread, it helps since some bullets miss the target.

2. A perfect strafe is usually faster than the normal but sometimes lag can make it look way more faster than usual 'cause of all the skipping.

3. That's really hard to say. Join me sometime and I'll try to explain it with my strafe.

4. It definitely is! Also, when you jump, try to crouch at the same time. It's called a Gandhi Hop and it's really useful.

5. It can be thrown by two ways... Strafing and Gandhi Hop.

6. Strafing doesn't help when you're BR isn't all that steady 'cause when you're strafing, you need to change your aim continuously.

7. You'll need to learn the distance agter which you can lunge with a particular weapon. The lunge distance is different for different weapons and it can get confusing 'cause it's kinda different in Host and in Lag.

This video was rendered via Bungie rendering service on standard def. (640x360) took me around 3-4 minutes to render..

The quality is amazing. Well done Bungie.
