Karooo
I keep it horizontal. I'm afraid of knocking it over and plus it's too shiny, keeps reflecting everything when the room is well lit. is that good or bad shiny

rAgHaV
Hi guys,I was wondering if this is a common issue faced by many??? I read in another post somewhere, that the ps3 started getting hot while playing Killzone2. Is this normal??? Im worried, as i just got a ps3 yesterday (new 80gb one) and i bought it as i thought it was way superior, performance wise, than the other console from microsoft. dont worry.. ive played that game alot.. no problems so far It is still under warranty but the strange thing is it only happens with BFBC no other game seems to trigger this ..I've played Resistance , Uncharted , even the newer ones like KZ2 etc.. but pop in battlefield and whirrrrrrrrrrrr goes the cooling fan and then after a while beep beep beep.... very weird problem do one thing delete your battlefield game data and save file then try to run the game.. lastAvenger
^ How do you think that will help ? Its good as saying, uninstall Msn Messenger and re-install to deal with the heating issue in the laptop. As others have pointed it out, just keep it in open and see that nothing is blocking the exhausts. And why worry when you have warranty on it, if something goes wrong, they will replace it for you
blackheart2925
maybe you should play more Battlefield and see if you can make it fail within the warranty :-) after all its better if it stops working when you have the safety net... mannubhai
Good Idea ..maybe I'll try it..it's just that it's so strange ...and Oh yeah I better make a back up of all the data asap.. maybe you should play more Battlefield and see if you can make it fail within the warranty :-) after all its better if it stops working when you have the safety net... punit
It's all about air flow around PS3. If you keep it in a cabinet like me, you need to make sure that you open it's doors. The overheating/loud noise of fan only occurs if PS3's ventilation is blocked. It happens to me all the time but once i open the cabinet, the heat/noise automatically comes down in around 5 minutes time.
Jigsaw
mannubhai could u also vacuum the vents on the ps3. Unlikely for dust to settle so soon but u never know.

Will do that...only wierd thing is why an ancient (in todays terms) like BFBC shud do it while newer games don't.....even MGS4 runs real smooth...KZ2 too ... Pyrotek
My PS3's fan has been going hyper lately as well. I suppose it could be the heat of the summer and my room gets quite hot, even with the room fan running. Half an hour into a game, the PS3 fan starts up and stays running for a while. Have had lots of problems with NFS Undercover when this happens, though most other games continue playing as normal. Even I'm slightly concerned by this problem. anyone thinks dust settlement could be the cause here?
lastAvenger
It could be.. My ps3 used sit on the floor with my tv, i started noticing that the fan was running and it was making a lot of noise, now keep in mind, the place where ps3 is sitting is quite well ventilated yet the fan was running, i vacuumed it and the fan was no more running.
