Kazekage Gaara
KG and other psp gurus, need some quick advice: 1) where in Mum can I get a PSP with CFW 3.71 or so? 2) if not available in this format then where can I get it modded? (don't have heart to do it myself, even after reading all the guides!!) 3) is the new price from sony (<9K) a good buy for a slim psp? PK Here you go... 1) In Mumbai, you can get a Slim PSP at MK (Musafir Khanna). Check out shops named Sony TV Games, Ninja Traders, and Kidzone. Am not sure how much they charge for downgrading, but it shouldn't exceed Rs. 1000 to Rs. 1500, may be even Rs. 700. Try to bargain with them coz its quite easy for them to downgrade since they already have the Pandora's battery and the magic stick ready, so they can do it in a snap 2) The above answers your question. 3) I bought my Slim PSP for Rs. 8200 around three to four months back. Am not sure whats the current price So overall, I would say you can buy your Slim PSP from anywhere and get it downgraded at MK
Fire Wolf
If I downgrade my PSP now (128mb mem stick) and install custom firmware using GTA:LCS, will I have any problems when I get a new 4GB mem stick?

No. Any firmware, let it be an official or a custom one, doesn't have anything to do with the memory stick You can format your mem stick or manually delete the installation files (keeping the usual rest like music, movies, etc) after the installation has completed

XephY
Yes you can play UMD games even if you have custom firmware. Remote play is possible. But right now if you are using the most recent PS3 firmware (2.10) it needs a PSP with firmware 3.80. CFW from team-m33 is only upto 3.72 so far but they are working on the 3.80 CFW as well. As for installing Custom Firmware, you would need a unpatched version of the GTA: LCS UMD , to downgrade to 1.5 and then install the CFW on it. L33TWiZaRd
@ayush12: Take it to palika....shop no.22 Royal palace. They will do it for under Rs.500 or else go to star electronics across it and ask for a guy named Kumar. He will do it for you. If u are still confused pm for my cell number and i will guide you as i myself have installed CF on my psp and my friend's many a times. @Xephy: You don't need anything apart from the pandora battery and memstick Just brick the damn psp and bring it to 1.5 and then upgrade to the desired CF within minutes
XephY
Yeah I know the pandora battery is used to install custom firmware on psp slims and to unbrick the fat psp's but how do you go about bricking one in the first place ....

Kazekage Gaara
peeps i wanna do it myself so ne guides for that.i m on 2.81 Hi Ayush, Since your PSP is at official Sony Firmware 2.81, there are TWO ways for downgrading your PSP. 1. Using an UNPATCHED version of GTA LCS to downgrade. 2. Using a pandora's battery and a Magic memory stick to downgrade. Now, since an UNPATCHED version of GTA LCS is almost impossible to get, the only way for you to downgrade your PSP is using the second method. Now, for creating a pandora's battery and a magic memory stick, you will need an ALREADY DOWNGRADED FAT PSP running a custom firmware. Do any of your friends have a downgraded PSP ? Can you borrow one from someone ? Once you have access to one, then do let me know and I'll let you know the exact procedure to create a Pandora's battery and a magic memory stick. Otherwise, your best bet is to get it downgraded by a professional, just like L33TWiZaRd recommended Edit: Refer to XephY's link above to take a glimpse at what exactly you have to do to create a pandora's battery. I would like to inform you that there is a little bit of risk involved in all of this and you can render your friend's PSP's battery useless if you don't do it properly. BUT, you should do just fine if you follow the guides and the readme files STEP BY STEP
L33TWiZaRd
@Xephy: Very very easy. Just run a firmware downgrader using hen. It will brick the psp for sure. Aneeways, using pandora is the best bet

Kazekage Gaara
how do i find out that the copy of GTA LCS is unpatched or not. Well, Sony realized their "mistake" and fixed it in no time. There is no way to tell whether you got the PATCHED VERSION or the UNPATCHED VERSION until and unless you put the actual UMD game into your PSP and check which "firmware update" it has. If it has firmware update v2.0 then its the unpatched one. If it has firmware update v2.60, then its the patched version.
