AtheK
Hey GUys sold my W850i so with it my 1Gb memory stick being used in my PSP is also gone. Now i am planning to buy 4gb(Rs.2900) or 8Gb(Rs.5300) I know 4Gb is enough to play all games but i was thinking of using it as my all time music player and movie viewer as well. My question is does Slim support 8 Gb or should i get 4 Gb itself.

A PSP Slim supports 8 Gb without any problems, so you can go ahead with that Also, previously, homebrew on PSP could only be played if it was placed "within the first 4 gb" but this problem has been rectified fairly recently by Dark Alex in 3.90 M33 Say...from where are you gonna get your 8 Gb from ? Nope. If you got that price, then its most probably a fake coz I picked up an original 4 Gb SanDisk from grey market here in Mumbai @ Rs. 2900. An original Sony 4 Gb card was around Rs. 3300. Official Sony 4 Gb card with 5 years warranty was also somewhere around that price. When I was there shopping, I also saw a fake 8 Gb Sony card, I LOLed so much that I forgot to ask the price I just hope you really know how to differentiate an original from a fake

Kazekage Gaara
Nope i dont...Help PLease Well, as earlier stated by me, the only way to know whether an MSPD (Memory Stick Pro Duo) is an original or a fake is to put it in your PSP (having firmware version 2.81 or HIGHER), select the memory stick in any section, Music, Pictures, Games, etc, and press TRIANGLE and then select "Information". In the information section, if it shows "MagicGate: Supported" then you have an original MSPD. If it shows "MagicGate: Unknown", then its a fake Edit: Before buying, just tell the guy that you're gonna confirm the purchase only after checking it in your PSP. Also, this won't be possible if you go to an official Sony showroom as they won't let you open the packaging, so what you can do is just tilt the package to the side and see whether there is a lot of PAPER in there, which is actually the manual written in various languages and its so thick that you can very easily see its there. This is OBVIOUSLY MISSING in the packaging of a fake MSPD

If you live in Mumbai, you can pay him a visit and get it for Rs. 2900. He MIGHT have a few of them left. I bought mine around two weeks back. Previously, I was hell bent on getting the official Sony one with 5 years warranty and all that but when this guy had an original SanDisk, I went for it as its a proven fact that SanDisk MSPDs are faster than Sony MSPDs , and I was also saving somewhere around 500 bucks too :wink5:

We get it over here for 2400 with 5 yrs warranty ie Sandisk @ 4gb. Anyways its good you got one. I got a Sony one last week which is a made in Taiwan basically because my budget was shot so i couldnt pick the original one. Btw the main difference between original and duplicate is Read and Write speeds differ massively between the original and the duplicate. On My original Sony 1GB stick, i can write at speed of atleast 3-4mb/sec where as on a duplicate one , the speed never exceeds 1.9mb/sec This is very crucial because then it takes a lot of time to copy stuff to the PSP From my own personal experience

Is this in Mumbai ? If yes, then please tell me where. I couldn't find an original SanDisk anywhere dude and grabbed this one when I saw it. He imported it from Singapore or something Btw the main difference between original and duplicate is Read and Write speeds differ massively between the original and the duplicate. On My original Sony 1GB stick, i can write at speed of atleast 3-4mb/sec where as on a duplicate one , the speed never exceeds 1.9mb/sec This is very crucial because then it takes a lot of time to copy stuff to the PSP From my own personal experience Well, apart from that, a person might face lags during gameplay in PSP only in case of a custom firmware where all the games are read Also, since they are fake, they can die out on your pretty fast. I picked up an 8GB Sandisk from Dubai this month, for INR 4400/-. That is a really good price dude.
