The PSP Homebrew Thread

I tried to run it through XMB but when I clicked on the icon, it tried to load but after that I just get a black screen.

Try putting it in the GAME folder and set your kernel to 3.90 in configuration/recovery menu. See if that works. If it doesn't work, then put it in GAME380 folder. I have a Slim which is on 3.90 M33-2, and my PSPTube folder is in the GAME380 folder with the kernel set to 3.80. It works flawlessly over there ;)

Hope this helps ;)

Hey,

I just brought a PSP Slim, it's at the official 3.80 firmware. Is there anyway to make it homebrew WITHOUT the need for a spare battery / PSP? Really need to figure this out but quite a few of the guides are confusing.

the guides to upgrade to 3.90 M33 are clear, but before I can do anything it seems that homebrew 1.5 is first needed to upgrade to 3.52 M33, which is what I cant seem to figure out :majesty:

I would say if you have no friends who are ready to lend you a PSP and their battery for downgrading your PSP Slim, then just get it downgraded at any gray market nearby your area. People charge anywhere from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1500 to get it done, although I still think you shouldn't pay more than Rs. 500 to Rs. 700. Those people already have the pandora's battery and the magic memory stick ready with them, and it won't take them more than FIVE minutes to downgrade your slim. :wOOtjumpy:

Edit: I just saw that you're in UAE, and I have no idea how much people (if any) charge over there. Best of luck :)

Well, after much thought, research and reading up I finally managed to downgrade my slim and switch over to custom firmware. Currently waiting for the PSP to charge to 80% so I can upgrade to 3.90 M33-2. Had to hard-mod the battery (brought a new one to act as a regular battery) and currently essentially have a spare pandora's battery ready in case I need to mod anyone else's PSP (my bro might be getting one).

Have to say the PSP is fun...now, just need to find some good games to play / acquire and I'll be all set. :wOOtjumpy:

Congrats dude :(. Don't forget to get Patapon and God of War for the PSP. They are some of the best games for that system :wOOtjumpy:

Guys some queries about modding my PSP

I just want to mod my PSP so that it can play dloaded games of the net.I need nothing else no software,no nothing,no homebrew or whatever.Do i have to go to the grey market cronies for this or can i do it myself.I have a fat PSP,1 GB MS.

Will most of the dloaded games be less than 1Gb,il buy a 4 GB one later.

How much will the grey marketeers charge for modding my PSP and in how much time can it be done of i am not able to do it myself.

PS:Plz dnt ask me to go through the entire thread as i went through the first 10 pages but couldnt find specific answers.

It takes about 5 mins. It's quite an easy job to do, but you need a PSP which already has custom firmware on it. The grey market guys range from 500 to 1000 bucks, as they have the battery prepared beforehand. It doesn't take more than 5 minutes. If you live in Delhi I could give you the contact of a reliable guy who can do it for 500 bucks.

Ok some guyz some doubts cleared some more generated-

1-Firewolf says that the process is only about 5 mins long so i presume it is just a software mod.My question-if i arrange for some spare PSP batteries from my friends will i be able to do the process myself with (Hopefully) your instructions.

There isnt any danger of my console bricking right.

PS-I have official firmware 3.72

Thanx
