USB headsets??

Hi guys any one who is interested in getting a USB head set.. I reccomend 100 %.. since they work great and u dont have to go thru the hassle of charging.. also the quality is better than a BT headset since its wired..

NOw I will tell you a way to have a wired head set for real cheap.. since normal usb headsets cost around 1000 - 1500 bucks which is quite expensive..

1. All you need is a normal headset with mike which you can use for ur computer (something im sure most of you already have) which has the two plugs.. one for the audio and one for the mike.

2. you will need a usb aud/mike adaptor which u can get from any shop for around 250 - 300 bucks.. the pic is below..

so all u need to do is connect ur normal head set on one side and the usb side into ur ps3. and Tadaa! you have a cheap solution.. which works beautifuly.. this is what I use..

3. if you are sitting a little distance away from ur ps3 just buy a usb extention cable (pic below) that cost like rs 30 and ur all set..

Oh and btw THERE IS NO NEED TO INSTALL ANY SORT OF DRIVERS WHATSOSEVER.. This works as soon as you connect it.. Any one trying to sell you drivers for the adaptor is talking out of his a*s..

Just want to clear up one last doubt.. Some people are not sure whether you hear other players thru the head set or through the TVs speakers when it comes to using this setup.. Rest easy people. Voice output is thru the earphones.. It works just like it should

Hope ive helped.

Woah, Thanks for the info.

I'll check if its available over here.

Hi Guys!!

which USB headsets (available in delhi) work with PS3??? Do all USB headsets work?? I have a bluetooth (motorolla) headset, but i heard the sound quality is much better with USB wired headsets!! The only USB headsets available in Nehru Place (Computer market in Delhi) are Microsoft ones (lol, the irony!!)!!!

However, the guy in one of the shops showed me this convertor, which connects to the USB and has two output jacks (similar to the ones we have one our PC sound card), one for earphones and other for mic. But it had a driver cd along with it, so i was a little apprehensive as I dont know if the PS3 will recognize it or not (can we install the drivers in PS3 to make it recognize the hardware, without installing Linux ofcourse???)

Thanks!!

-Angy

is every usb headset compatible with ps3.IF no suggest the ones that work

i used the 3D sound(company name) adapter, the same which Phaseolus and rashroxx are talking abt and used it on my PS3, and voila it works gr8.. the sound is so clear and there is no problem of recharging whatsoever.. so dont wait a sec and go ahead and buy it. it will work. the headphones and mic both work for voice chat so u dont need to be apprehensive. and this adpter that i bought dont have any drivers CD.. u just need to connect it. nothing more. just select USB headset in ur accessory settings>audio device settings.. set it to both Input and output device.

anyways total cost of this affair for me:

1. Headset with mic: 130

2. adapter: 200 (cheaper on ebay)

Total: 330....!!! u have a working headset for Rs.330 and the sound is clearer than Bluetooth. who won't want this? :P

:hi2: to PS3 for its versatility and universal connectivity.

and yes if u have a problem because of wire's length get that USB extention cable that Phaseolus mentioned and u r good to go.

i played RE5 with Phaseolus for 3 hours last night and enjoyed crystal clear sound and excellent communication. plus no problem of getting ur headset charged in middle of gameplay.

and Angy, i used a Bluetooth headset too. and the voice is distorted on it.. but this is not the case with USB headset :P plus no cancer :fear:

i hope my words could save a life

:P

Edit: and to be on safe side, dont buy the adapter with the driver CD. get this 3D sound headset from ebay itself cos its already tested by so many ppl. i m sure u can find that in Delhi also... if i can get it in a small town where i live, it should be available in Delhi also.

Okay, I got the 3D Sound Adapter for 250 bucks . I tried it with my Laptop and PS3...It wont work. When I inserted the Adapter (Connected it to my headphones ) it displayed the Drivers loading screen and then it said drivers installed. But when inserted , It wont work. My laptops speakers stop working and the light on the adapter starts blinking (Green one) but I dont get any sound in my headphones.

I am getting a feeling that I have bought a defective Adapter.

yea it must be defective. buy 3D sound adapter. its available on ebay.in for around 150 bucks.. and if it is not working with ur laptop, it means the adapter is defective and there's no issue of incompatibility with PS3.

Yeah, Its the 3D Sound one, The one from the picture above.

I'll try to get it replaced and check if it works. By the way , When you connect it to a PC, Does it show the mic option too? Right now its just Audio .

Yeah , Do that. I am talking about the Mic options when you click the little Speaker symbol on the bottom right corner of the screen.

EDIT: Got a new one , Works perfectly with both my Laptop and PS3. Thanks for the help, Harshail .

Not the right place to ask this, but can someone confirm if the usb sound card/usb headsets work on the 360 as well?

In short: no, you can't do it with USB. Your best bet is to get a headset that has a 3.5mm stereo audio jack and a 3.5mm/2.5mm microphone jack. Plug the stereo jack into the AV cable's RCA jacks using an adapter or two, and then plug the microphone jack into your controller
