Achieved_Nirvana
You also tried the demo? Did you expirience the same kind of lag that I did? It sucked so bad he talked of boycotting the game a few pages back.
ctrl_alt_del
It sucked so bad he talked of boycotting the game a few pages back. Am I missing out something here? I thought few pages back, he was talking about the Closed Multiplayer Beta. I had no idea MT has experienced and dissed the upcoming Xbox LIVE demo for the game as well. For the record, I am playing the Xbox LIVE demo, scheduled to come out on 5th June, worldwide.

From what I;ve heard from some dudes on my XBL friends' list, the demo hasnt improved on the gameplay front, altho, graphically, its better. ctrl_alt_del
Ahh! Thats what I thought. Achieved Nirvana got me all confused. Looks good graphically. Gameplay, ummm, it's touch and go. Nowhere near COD4.

ctrl_alt_del
Seems like I spoke too soon. After spending some more time in BF:BC MP, my views about the game has changed. For those who haven’t been put-off by the negative publicity that DICE’s latest console-only offering managed to garner, June 5th is the day to look forward to as Battlefield: Bad Company (BFBC) will be having a demo on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The demo has already been out in the wild a full week in advance for all those who have pre-ordered the game. But thanks to EA, we managed to get our hands on it to see if the game will be able to earn back the goodwill that the Battlefield games have traditionally enjoyed. The demo offers you a chance to test out both the multiplayer, as well as the single player aspects of the game. Being a Battlefield game and all, we promptly dove right in to multiplayer to see if the game stood a chance of standing up against Call of Duty 4 (COD4), the reigning king when it comes to online warfare. Jumping into a multiplayer match was easy and intuitive enough. Even though from India, the connection was established within minutes and we were prompted to choose our class. You have a selection of all the usual modern warfare classes such as Assault, Reconnaissance, Support and Demolition. ............... KeezNah
You just can't expect Bad Company to be "better" than COD4, because neither game warrants a full comparison. The Battlefield games have always been more about playing with large groups of people in expansive environments with non-linear objectives, ab mist the ensuing chaos of choppers, tanks and what have you. Sure, I can understand how one game can control better than the other, but that doesn't put it over the other in every other department. Both games are different in their own right. Enjoy them for what they are and what they're not.

After a steady diet of Halo 3 and CoD4, the movement in BFBC feels quite floaty and not quite crisp enough.

halcyon
I am playing the Demo right now (i got the early access) and the game is freaking awesome, its way better than the beta i played 2 months ago. Anyways if you've played the beta the following are some of the changes you will notice immediately * Fall damage is greatly reduced * Doesn't take a full clip to kill an enemy anymore, 5-15 bullets max will do the job (Assault rifle) * No lag at all (maybe coz only a few are playing it right now) * Added sound effects * Team units are now dark blue and squad units are light blue (was green in the beta) * Conquest will be up for free in a patch after launch * I only use the n00b tube to blow walls that stand in my way, but i think its nerfed a bit when compared to the beta. * Grenades work great now, they are alright in the demo (was very weak in the beta) * Helicopter is ok to control now (was ridiculous in the beta) * NO prone (i really thank DICE for this, fackin sniper n00bs fall back and pick off the others when they dont even care about capturing/defending objs) Overall im in love with this game, also you cant compare this to CoD4, they are both different, BFBC is focused more on team work. I wont really say CoD4 fans will love this, coz this has a different sort of win approach so ya try the demo that comes out tomorrow and see for yourself. MarketTantrik
Nice writeup !! How about the sound and directional damage awareness. In the beta, you couldnt really figure out where you were getting shot at from. Have they improved the sound effects and damage indicators ? ctrl_alt_del
Great! Halycon listed all the points that I missed out on, partly because I didn't hve a chance to play the MP beta before. Helicopter is still pretty difficult for me to handle though I believe BF Vets will feel right at home in that accursed thing. No prone, so snipers have to be left out in the open. Still, it didn't get me killed as many times as I took out the enemies. Every time I died as a sniper was only when the opponent sniper got me. Haven't seen lag ever since my first try at the game. The game has been playing great online. Smoke effects are ultra-cool. The whole battlefield is enveloped in a kind of haze as the battle rages on. It feels great to track an incoming hostile through your sniper scope and then suddeny you are forced to scan the area as he blends in with the smoke pouring from one the destroyed tanks. The servers are scheduled to go down sometime today in prepartion of opening the demo for public. I hope everyone joins in in the fun.
halcyon
Nice writeup !! How about the sound and directional damage awareness. In the beta, you couldnt really figure out where you were getting shot at from. Have they improved the sound effects and damage indicators ? ya good question. You will hear voice statements like "enemy 6 O Clock" if you are shot from behind or "enemy in front of you" or "enemy to the north east" something like that. Doesn't work when hit by a sniper though, you will hear "Sniper" (and indicate his position to the rest of the squads) when you shoot an enemy sniper first. One problem is if you are in the communist (?) team, you hear these statements in w/e communist language that is, so one has gotta figure those statements out themselves i guess lol! EDIT: Reg sound effects - you hear footsteps now (wasn't there in the beta) and its really uber coz the foot step (sound) kinda changes with the soil. I kinda found that really neat. Sound effects in general are absolutely awesome. If you knife the wooden doors you can hear the wood chip apart, if its a wall that you are gonna blow you get those great brick splatter sounds. I mean you can really feel the realism there. They put a nice amount of detail in the sound department.
