Are you f**king kidding me? According to the Indian constitution, a person who is not born in India cannot be the PM of this country. This was the sole reason because of which she had to quit at the last moment even after the results of 2004 elections.

had people of this country cared so much about this "firangan" thing, Congress along with Ms Gandhi would be in Italy by now already :P People did vote for her knowing that she's the PM candidate. There's no point of people opposing after the results man.

Did you check the link which I posted in the first post? Here again http://www.nationsroot.com/featured-what-is-indian-law-says-about-sonia-gandhi-becoming-pm-of-india

Ok. I don't quite agree with the way the gay movement is pursued.

When there is a sizeable people who think that gays are sick people, going out in undies in pride parades doesn't help the cause.

You know a lot of people have the same thoughts about us 'gamers', its as if we are doing some Class A drug like ICE, Heroin, cocaine and are wasted people.

In fact, a lot of people, and that includes me as well, who do not really oppose gays may think why sexuality has to be celebrated, something which is done in privacy of bedrooms, why it has to be brought on the streets and expressed. I communicate with you on a level where it doesn't matter to me what is your gender, race, religion, origin then why your sexual orientation should?

It's simple as I don't care if you f**k a guy, girl or a goat, as long as you don't do in front of me why should even bother.

Not talking or publicising something does not normalise the situation.

In-fact the more you try to hush up stuff, the more chances that you will be hounded and misunderstood.

Gay parades are a way to link with fellow society members, just like we are here on iVG and some of us maintain healthy contact in real life. It is because we are passionate about a topic, strongly believe in it and appreciate that we are not alone.

Secondly, lets be real, gays are more prone to HIV contraction, the risk of contraction in non-vaginal intercourse is quite high.

I came across one of the article about Pozzing on GAF. It was full of vomit inducing stuff... Lets leave at that. But this is one of the darkest part when discussing about homosexuality.

A coin has two sides.

And again keeping things hushed up doesn't help.

Also, internet has a lot of vomit inducing stuff on it.

Finally, they should keep faith, society doesn't change overnight. It takes time. A lot of countries are now legalising gay marriages or have legalised it.

To bring change one has to stand for their thoughts. You think 'gaming' will ever be mainstream (I mean proper games, not Angry Birds on your smartphone) in this country if we all go in hushed circles. No, you have to vocalise your thoughts on topic and remove misapprehensions on hand.

Can you be a gamer and a productive member of society, yes you can. But unless you don't wear your true colours and be vocal about it people will never change.

All this is hyperbole, you don't have to take it at face value. Cheers!

This is the real story around Sonia not becoming PM.

Technically she could have, but it wasn't clear whether or not she has given up her Italian citizenship.

But had she become PM, Swamy would have exposed her completely. Swamy follows the path of law and if he sees something illegal you are done.

I read that article before you posted(it's very old)

But something did change since then

Either In Italy or India

Nemo posted something regarding this

Someone call him

Basically it was the case that, any person (citizen of india) can hold the post of pm, irrespective of his/her place of birth.

Mr. Swamy of bjp (or its allied party) did rise a very valid point that there is a clause mentioning that "a foreign born naturalized citizen of India can become the PM here only if the same process is allowed to happen by the foreign nation (to which the naturalized citizen initially belonged) as well, as per their constitution" - something like a 'tit for tat'.

Very nice catch, and as Italy doesnt allow a naturalized citizen to become their PM, he raised this point.

BUT

There is one further sub clause-

And it negates the objection raised by anyone in this specific case.

The sub clause says that this policy of "tit for tat reversal" being a pre requisite condition is ONLY APPLICABLE IN CASE OF COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES.

And as Italy is not a cw nation, well... a naturalized citizen from there could become the highest executive without that nation having the same procedure allowed in their govt.

P.S. section 5 of indian citizen act 1955, containing "reciprocity" and also the commonwealth sub clause.

Anyone interested can google that up and read in detail.

Am lazy to search, link etc.

Indian citizenship laws DO NOT allow dual citizenship, so if the person in question had not given up their foreign citizenship, there would be more concerning matters than the possibility of her becoming the pm or not, i.e. If the foreign citizenship had not been renounced, a naturalized citizen of india is said to never have been a citizen of india in the first place.. Cause of no dual citizenship being permitted.

Gaming is a social activity, more like a hobby.

Being caught redhanded playing games is not equivalent to being caught sodomising someone.

The sexuality is 100% private affair, what one does in his bedroom stays there unless he wants to take to the streets. And there are laws which prohibit performing lewd acts in the public, even the heterosexual.

Expressing the orientation just cuz you think you may be descriminated if known later, itself is wrong notion to start with.

Just my opinion.

This is the grey area.

We dont know if she has or not given up the italian citizenship. Or it is understood that by taking oath as an indian citizen, she has done that automatically?

What if she has not returned her passport?

An voh toh koi uske ghar jaa kar check karo

Seriously, idk. But this case was raised a couple of times and in both instances the supreme court had thrown it away... So i guess it should know the law in a bit more detail

Edit: i think it is understood it to be be an automatic renouncing of firang citizen upon oath, unless something explicitly is done by the individual to suggest otherwise.

But the law permits conservatives to do the same.

They are anyway looked down upon, what worse can happen?

And I already stated it was hyperbole with which I brought the argument. You don't need to feel so pricked by the 'gamer' analogy.

Anyway, news
