Ne0
I read the article in times today morning and I was surprised that how did they charge the boy with rape. Consensual sex with minor is a rape, but even the boy was 17. Why are all the laws biased to punish men? 1st the draconian dowry law, biased adultery law and now this I don't know how far this is true, I heard from a lawyer friend long back that, in India, if a guy assures a girl he'll marry her, have sex with her, and later break up with her, she can charge him for rape. He told me some girls who got dumped by their boyfriend have lodged police complaints and the police indeed arrested their ex-boyfriends !
godspeed4476
Yep, absolutely true. The worst part is that, the weaker section of the women for whom this act has been introduced never get the benefits, but it's misused for most of te time. But how can the girl prove that the guy assured her that he would marry her? Isn't it just a 'your word against mine' scenario? And what if the boy just assures that he will have a relationship with her and then breaks up ?

Noctis
It tough for men, but such laws are necessary to combat the extremely high number of sexual assaults in our country. And the news avi posted has nothing much to do with this. India's age of consent is 16, the boy is 17 and the girl 15. So it is considered as a statutory rape by default regardless of a promise of marriage or mutual consent.

Trust me it would be more horrid without these laws than with Btw I was quite aware of the 16 under law back from school days. I'm surprised to find so many people...well...surprised about the news. Also OP I think you missed the part where the guy avoided the girl when she got pregnant. Nature screwed her so society screws the guy. WhiteWolf
Shocking Video: Girl brutally beaten by Egypt military NSFW Damn..... The blog-o-sphere is boiling at the cruel beating of a female protester by Egyptian military police, who continued battling protesters in Tahrir Square on Sunday. The clashes, into their third day now, have left 10 people dead and hundreds injured. The video uploaded on YouTube Sunday reveals the extreme cruelty of the country's law enforcers during the crackdown. The army soldiers in full riot gear have been savagely beating a seemingly unconscious female protester with big sticks, kicking her and stomping on her chest. Security forces lashed out ruthlessly on armless civilians and burned down tents that had been put up by activists outside the parliament building to camp in protest against the military rule. The internet community therefore questions the methods of the military regime who took over power after the ousting of the ex-President Hosni Mubarak in February. playstation
China: India using Agni-V to increase clout in Asia BEIJING: The proposed February launch of India's Agni-V missile has ruffled feathers among Chinese policy makers with Communist Party organ, the People's Daily, saying the move reflects India's "intention of seeking regional balance of power". It quoted Indian officials and scientists describing Agni-V missile as a "killer" for a "certain country" without mentioning which. India "cannot tolerate" internal and external security environment constraints that come in the way of its developing military clout, the article said. However, it made no mention of China's massive missile build-up and development of air strike capabilities including the recent launch of an aircraft carrier. "It is the Indian goal to continue to strengthen the military and possess a military clout that matches its status as a major power," the party mouthpiece said. The article comes in the wake of remarks by Chinese experts expressing concern about the strengthening India-US relationship in military affairs. They have voiced concerns about India joining the American game plan of "encircling China" by playing on the grouse of it s sea neighbors like Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan. Beijing has vehemently opposed an ONGC deal for oil exploration in South China Sea that China regards as its own. The article in the People's Daily added that India should stop putting too much faith in the new US policy on the Asia Pacific region because "thinking this move will contain its imaginary enemy would be naive". It also said, "India should cooperate with the neighboring countries instead of being hostile to them and reduce its own persecution mania to play a role on the world stage in the future." The newspaper said, "There is no real winner in wars and peace opportunities must not be wasted". The article recorded Indian official thinking that Agni-V will not pose a threat to any country as India has a policy of never being the first to attack anyone. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/China-India-using-Agni-V-to-increase-clout-in-Asia/articleshow/11162364.cms hum agar defence minister hota hum bol deta ...Agni -v is to retaliate in case of aggression from chinese......hu jintao ki maa ki aankh.
