Hi frnds,

I have a DELL S1909W 18.5"" monitor with DVI with HDCP support (according to Dell). Can i connect PS3 with it using HDMI cable and HDMI to DVI adapter?????

Pls advice me. Also my Monitor has a native screen resolution of 1366 X 768. Monitor manual says it will support 720P and 1080P over HDCP. Pls suggest me whwther PS3 display will look fine in my monitor. And what need to be PS3 output settings 720P or 1080P?????

Cheers :lol:

Yes your monitor will support 720p without any problems but I highly doubt it will support 1080p as your native resolution is only 1366x738

I also have my PS3 connected to my Dell SP2208WFP monitor with a HDMI cable as this one has a HDMI port , its native resolution is 1680x1050 , In PS3 display option it automatically select 1080p by default with 720p also selected , so it plays 720p only supported games at that 720 resolution , and also plays 1080p supported games like GT5P at 1080p.

Joy :)

your monitor max res is 1680 x 1050.

1080p res = 1920 x 1080. your monitor wont support it. just check when u are ingame in the lcd settings. it might be downscaling it to 720p.

Nope it runs at 1080p for games that support 1080p , I have checked it , GT5P and MCLA runs at 1080p , it might be a litle upscaled but it shows 1080p in the monitor's display options when playing those games. :P

@stormblast , here's a pic of GT5P on my monitor running at 1080p but at 1680x1050 resolution.

Thanks frnds for ur support. Also pls tell me whether the graphics quality on my monitor by selecting 720P will be like PS3 running or HDTV. I just want to know whether scaling resolution from its native 1366 X 768 to 1280 X 720 will have any bad impact. As i have seen when PC graphics is set to 1280 X720 on my monitor, it kinda blurs the image, atleast not as sharp as 1366X768 display.

Don't compare the PS3 with PC , as the PS3 upscaling is awesome , it will still look great whether it is upscaling or downscaling.

Same applies for movies , movies with resolution say like 640x480 play a lot better on PS3 in full screen than on pc when you select full screen. :P

your monitor shows 1080 but actually it isnt ....it's probably a little downscaled.

I have a dell with native higher that yours ( i think it's 1650 x blah blah ) - and it also shows 1080p.

run your ps3 games at 720 or 1080 and you wont find any difference..in fact you might find 1080 a little jagged .

but 1080p will make a diff only if your monitor is larger than 40 inches or so - at lower sizes the human eye can't differentiate.
