Help - Buying Xbox 360 - what do I watch out for?

@aman - every piece of electronic equipment has a shelf life and is susceptible to fizzle out. can't let that worry me about when something is going to happen or not. i could have waited for the new design x360s to come out, for MS to improve their customer service, but by the time that happens something else will fizzle out. So better to buy it now - it comes with a kickass 3 yr warranty, plays awesome games and is a whole lotta fun.

Cheers.

thts exactly what i was worried about when i gt my ps3, to play on a 21" TV, so i brought it 1st......

then i brought a 19" DELL monitor with HDCP after i saw my friend playing uncharted on HDTV, so the monitor rocks.....

c its not about the size, its about the resolution, so if u cant afford a HDTV buy a LCD monitor instead but do some research be4 buying........

i m totally happy by playing on monitor,if u want ill post some screens, so u can judge hw awsome the graphics look on it!!

and yeah, about x360, go fr it, but i wuld suggest ps3 as.....(i dont wanna go that way...), anyways x360 is also awsome, im getting one next month

bye,hope i helped,take care!

And on topic,

the only next gen console with a well stocked library of titles in every genre. It'll take you months to play all the AAA titles before you get burned out and decide to get another console. Go for the 360, you won't regret it.

VGA takes a back seat when you compare it with component input imo.

Hilarious !! :rofl2:

Prime example of ill-informed advice.

On current consoles, the only connection better than VGA is HDMI.

i stand corrected then.. i'm no guru when it comes to stuff like this..

but humour me anyway.. isnt component input (Red/Blue/Green) anyday better than Composite (yellow) for an input video signal ? In turn.. have always been of the impression that composite input was > than VGA pin based video..

HDMI is king - i have heard that.. but not what you say abt VGA.

Whats the order of hierachy then in terms of good quality video ?

Component is certainly better than composite. I was referring to your statement that VGA is not as good as component.

The hierarchy is as follows (in descending order)

HDMI

VGA

Component

Composite

No display

I've owned a 360 in the past but made a huge mistake of getting it modded and it ended up crapping on me. It's been ages since I've played on a console since my ps2 also died on me about the same time. I've recently been thinking about getting a 360, only this time I won't get it modded. But, I have a couple of questions

-There's been a price cut in Europe, any chances of that happening over here? Should I wait till April?

-I read somewhere that you get 4 games free with the premium console, is that offer still available?

-What's the duration of the warranty? 1 year or 3 years?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure we would be getting a price cut so quickly, It will probably relect here too, but more likely after 2~3 months. I do not think it would be a worth while wait right now due to the uncertainity. I am myslef getting an XBOX 360 this evening.

Depends on the place where you get it from, the offer has officially ended and only the price decrese to 24k is being offered at many places, but some places like the Planet M near my house are still giving out the free games too.

Warranty is 1 year for the console, but the RRoD Problem is covered by a 3 year warranty. i.e if you get an RRoD aftetr two years, then your console would be repaired/replaced under warranty. If some other part like the DVD Drive stops working after two years, it would not be covered under warranty.
