Freelancer Posted May 7, 2009 Report Share Posted May 7, 2009 if you r not tht much into branded thn i suggest u buy 2.5" hdd with case...u can save a lot on tht !!!! thts jus my opinion...n in case of branded WD anyday !!!!! for 500 gb it will be around 4.5 to 5.5k , but they will be with external power supply n they suck actually.....n the usb powered ones will be expensive.......... I gotta check out some reviews of those actually i first saw its name and review in a chip issue.... it was long time back and i think it got a pretty healthy review.... and within months my bro got this one for himself from london.... its a real pain in the a*s to find it here in india but after 2 months of searching, ive finally nailed it! my bro's gf jus gifted him a iomega 500 gb hd drive, it has a remote n it plays loads of video formats! jus plug it to a tv via composite or hdmi n play directly !!!!! i think that iomega one is a 3.5" requiring external power innit?? Am gonna do a little bit of more research on these things and will also check out Lamington Road prices of all of them, and then will decide. Dude...you still haven't told me the size and cost and brand of your HDD that's inside that shiny case Edit: I actually am seriously interested in going this way. I bought mine from eBay using one of those 15% coupons so got a cool discount of 950 bucks almost so with shipping, i paid 5300bucks for 1 TB. It has been pretty good and silent.
