Next Yakuza Game already underway!

Ryu Ga Gotoku Sequel (PS3) (yakuza)

-Not RGG4 but not RGG Kenzan 2 either

-Nagoshi believes that fans will be accepting of the title regardless of if Kiriu goes to space or fights zombies

-Thinking of making it more 3-dimensional than prior titles

-Title still evolving

-Thinks fans wouldn't wait 2 years for RGG sequels

-No voice acting done yet (pre-audition stage) but appears that auditions will be open to the public, atleast for the females....all that's required to audition is a love for the RGG IP.

Trinity Universe PS3 (RPG)

-Gust, NIS, Idea Factory

-August Release

-Atelier Violate is one of the titles from which the chars are from

-AAA system (Active Animation Adventure)...

-Looks like Etna's in there too (from Disgaea)

-Atleast 2 scenarios/story lines: Goddess Story Line & Demon Lord Story Line

You are looking at Sega's Toshihiro Nagoshi, a man who's spent the past four years heading the team behind the Yakuza series. Yakuza 3 came out in Japan a few weeks ago to near-universal praise and pretty decent sales, breaking half a million copies sold in the region, and Nagoshi (a man so dedicated to his craft that he's produced four Yakuza games at the rate of one per year) is apparently not content to rest on his laurels -- in an interview with Famitsu magazine, the creator revealed that the next title in the series is already in development.

"It's not necessarily going to be '4'," Nagoshi said. "Just think of it as 'the next game' instead. I can't go into details at this point, but I hope to see people anticipating what we're going to do with it next."

Nagoshi is a bit tight-lipped on details on the new Yakuza, but he did mention in the interview that the game will come out on the PlayStation 3 and be set in the modern era, dashing the hopes of fans who hoped for a sequel to Yakuza: Kenzan!. "Certainly, a lot of gamers have asked us to make a Kenzan 2, to the point where some of them want the samurai stuff to be the main series and the modern Yakuza games to be the spin-off," Nagaoshi joked. "The new game is set in modern times, but I want to establish a new style of game within that setting. I'd like to provide an experience that can keep series fans excited while expanding the emotional range of the game."

When asked how he and his staff have the energy to keep releasing Yakuza games at such a fast clip, Nagoshi chalked it all up to enthusiasm and the drive to try new things. "With the four titles we've released, one thing I'm glad to see people understand is that pretty much anything is possible with the Yakuza series," he said. "If Kazuma Kiryu went into space or started fighting zombies, I think gamers would accept that at face value. That's the sort of weird potential and anticipation that floats around the series, and I want to give gamers something to get excited about as the series goes on."

Want to join the excitement in a more personal way? Then you're in luck -- starting tomorrow, you (assuming you're over 18 and are Japanese) can go to ryu-audition.com and sign up for a chance to become one of the "companion ladies" that Kazuma hangs out with in the game's assorted nightclubs. Sega's taking entries until June 19; make it through that and the ensuing audition, and you too can become a virtual harlot. Sweet!
