blackheart2925
EDIT: Ok am updating my post with the answers i got (thanks afty, LA, grampa...for answering all my stupid queries ) and my own googling efforts I have been seeing people talking about the DS for quite sometime now and have slowly gotten interested in this device. So i got a few questions 1. Any idea where i can buy it in Chennai and what would be the cost? And is it available from the grey market or white? Does Landmark or something else sells the DS? Only grey available in India. For Chennai, head over to "Moosa Games" in Ritchie street (on the right hand side basement when you enter from Sony World/Mount Road side. Costs around Rs. 6300. Other shops on the same line and the ground floor also sells the DS Landmark and others dont know... 2. Support - does Nintendo provide support for DS in India? Official like Sony, MS etc...And is it region specific warranty etc. No support from Nintendo. None from grey buyer also but they can repair the DSL if it stops working. All DS games (which run on DSi as well as DSL/DS) are region free...but DSi specific software/games is region specific 3. What models are available currrently and any recommendations on which to buy? DSL is the best cause flash carts are more easily available and in great variety. DSi carts are difficult to get as of now...plus it currently costs around 12k Check the link below for the differences between DSL and DSi http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2008/10/0...-comparison.htm 4. Games - officially available or all imports? and whats the cost like? again from where i can buy or ship within India? Original games - all imports only else download 5. Does some kind of region-restriction exist? region restriction there for DSiware not DS games...check videogamesblogger link above in No. 3 5. Modding - is it required? You cant mod the device. What can be used is flashcarts. For comparison of different flashcarts check out the following links http://www.flashcartreviews.com/ for reviews of different carts available http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_storage_devices for a explanation on original and yes, clone flashcarts 6. What are common problems which people face with the DS? like screen not very robust/ dead pixels etc DS is very robust and should last a while unlike the black/white box.... Maybe a couple of screen protectors can be used cause the touch screen can take heavy usage.
