chupchap
I happened to meet Quentin Staes-Polet, CEO of Kreeda games, who handled marketing of GTA IV in India. He told me that the PC version manage to sell 50k copies.. now how good is that? Does that come under the category -- impressive? Whatever be the case, I was glad that the game was priced at around 499 when I bought it a few months back Could that be the reason it sold as many copies as it did? AtheK
is that india sales?? obviously can't be world sales. In case it sold 50k copies in india, both xbox and PS3 won't have sold that many copies put together for all the games released in this fiscal year

Been around gaming scene for a while now, I joined GI only recently that's all In case it sold 50k copies in india, both xbox and PS3 won't have sold that many copies put together for all the games in this fiscal year No doubt there.. I think MS should stop trying to push consoles so desperately and convince more people to buy authentic PC games.. am sure they will make money that way. plus they will spend much less on PR

The JACKAL
50 k ?? , theres no way that 50 k copies would be sold in india, majority of the PC gamers in india rely on pirate bay to get their games.
chupchap
Man stop pulling our legs.I highly doubt there are 50k gamers in India who even have systems that could run GTA4 Am sure there are 30K gamers who buy the game "THINKING" their rigs will support the game, but will scream in frustration when it doesn't. PS: My cousin did it too. He had an ancient system and he wanted to run GTA IV

_Hellsboy_
Exactly.Kinda like the many people buying halo wars only to find out its an RTS.Even if there are 50k people with high end rigs there cant be 50k legit gamers with such rigs.I refuse to believe it
HundredProofSam
Dunno about PC sales, but I hear PS3 and 360 combined it's crossed 10k. Never pay attention to sales figures for gaming in India. There's no way to verify it, so it could just be a marketing stunt. peace

Nemo
Awesome! am primarily a PC gamer too.. am not against consoles, it's just that MS and Sony sound a little desperate when trying to sell consoles in India. desperate..?? how does a system selling price being 5-7k higher compared to US and no dedicated PSN sound desperate to u ?? if anything, indian console consumers are shafted. We dont get the same amount of games (one can always order online though), the consoles are priced higher and after sales service is not the best, the games too take long a*s time to drop in mrp here. If it werent for sony's awesome exclusives, i wud hav gone for a high end PC. If anything, sony and ms hav to work extra hard to develop a solid base here. P.S. awesome news on the GTA sales. though i hav my doubts over the number. the 499/- definately hav helped but I doubt there are so many people with uber high Pc's. If it were a good port, then ok, but gta needs pretty insane requirementss for ur avg gaming pc. *edit* I just noticed i used 'IF' a lot of times there
