GTA IV (PC) sells 50K copies in India

Recommended Posts

PC games still sell more then Console games in India go to your local retailer and find out and also please don't make useless comments like the one highlighted above.

I said slowly and gradually.Console gaming in India is just picking up.And of course the fact that pc games cost like less than half of console games has a lot to do with it I suppose. And anyways IDK about retailers, but am saying this from my personal experience.I dont know 1 legit PC gamer except for myself. Not 1.Whereas I know atleast 5-6 legit consolites in real life

Dunno about PC sales, but I hear PS3 and 360 combined it's crossed 10k. Never pay attention to sales figures for gaming in India. There's no way to verify it, so it could just be a marketing stunt.

I don't think its a marketing stunt as they are not going to gain publicity anywhere for achievements in "niche", like gaming (ya thats what newspapers and channels consider gaming to be) the numbers are legit what needs to be found out are how many of them were activated to something of that sort

desperate..?? how does a system selling price being 5-7k higher compared to US and no dedicated PSN sound desperate to u ?? if anything, indian console consumers are shafted. We dont get the same amount of games (one can always order online though), the consoles are priced higher and after sales service is not the best, the games too take long a*s time to drop in mrp here.

If it werent for sony's awesome exclusives, i wud hav gone for a high end PC.

If anything, sony and ms hav to work extra hard to develop a solid base here.

P.S. awesome news on the GTA sales. though i hav my doubts over the number. the 499/- definately hav helped but I doubt there are so many people with uber high Pc's. If it were a good port, then ok, but gta needs pretty insane requirementss for ur avg gaming pc.

5-7K? Let us blame India's import and taxing system for that. Does "raw deal" sound more opt than "desperate"?? :smokey:

How can you be so sure of that? The people at Kreeda, at least the guys in charge whom I met (they wanted to do a promotion for GTA4 on GI) knew nothing about gaming, let alone GTA.

The PC version released in December and they call me for a "demo" of the game in May 2009. Kreeda were hired to market GTA, and they did a piss poor job of it, so why wouldn't they cover their a*s and say it's sold 50k? Makes them look good.

Yes, they would and they have off the record. But they wouldn't want those figures to be thrown around because there's no way to back them up.

And I'm not saying GTA4 on PC hasn't sold 50k copies. I have no way to prove that it hasn't. But they can't independently prove that it has either, so they should find a better way to market the game than this. It's a good game so it shouldn't be so hard.

he has both consoles and an awesome pc .. its just that he supports something that is really better then wat marketing guys want you to believe ..

Those must be some really good marketing guys because they actually make PC versions of cross-platform games look shitty compared to the other versions running on inferior hardware.
