Tyler
A proper review of the game... http://www.rpgamer.com/games/nier/nier/rev...nierstrev1.html It makes a lot more sense than GS and IGN who slapped 5s and 7s on this. It's a much better game than that. Then again, it's surely not for everyone.
Tyler
Okay I know I am the only one posting in this thread but I gotta say the game is REALLY good! Stupid ignorant reviewers (yeah, you Gamespot) seem to have completely missed the point here. I passed two sections of the game that were part Resident Evil (complete with a creepy haunted mansion and fixed camera angles) and part Diablo (top down dungeon crawler) and it's amazing how many genres and games this game pays homage to. And did I mention and entire section devoted to text based adventure games (Typing of the Dead). I can see a trigger-happy gamer falling asleep there but it's definitely a must-play for the discerning gamer. The story, voice acting and writing is excellent. There were a couple of key plot moments that were equally emotional and also very unexpected. Trust me when I say this Emil's story will make you teary-eyed. The characters are so well written that no matter how bizarre they are a cynical talking book, a foul-mouthed hermaphrodite, a floating skeleton , you will get attached to them. Bulovski
Tyler likes a RPG - hmmm. Why am I not surprised? Although I have to say my initialy impressions are still good. It's this damn game called Demon's Souls which sucks up my life.
Tyler
Hehe... it's not that I like every RPG (FFXIII for example was decent but not something I'd remember, same with FFXII, Star Ocean 4 etc). What I like about Nier is that the devs really weren't concerned about what the current trends are in the gaming industry. They have taken some pretty huge risks, some of them work, some don't but overall you have to appreciate the effort and I'm sure seasoned gamers will. Too bad the game is mostly flying under the radar. Heck, even Yahtzee appreciates the game (to a certain extent) in his review. This year has had three very good RPGs so far - ME2, ROF and now Nier. jDaMn
Is this the same game as Nier Gestalt? Just played the demo. Really bad. The 2D sequences were As usual, they tried to save money on super powerful yet fragile warrior woman clothing.
Bulovski
If there's an old guy as the protagonist then it's the right game. Young guy with protagonist is available only in Japan.
Tyler
I honestly don't think a demo can give a proper impression of the game.

playstation
Finished the game. Loved it. A beautiful story.good characters specially i liked kaine and also emil . Simply awesome Soundtrack. This game graphically may not be too awesome but places in this game are very very artistically design they are inspired from lot of games yet they look quite beautiful and stunning ...at times you do feel like this must have been inspired from resident evil..ah this from sotc..ico ...bionic commando...ninja gaiden ....god of war....chrono cross. Boss fights are also a lot in this game and trust me almost all of them are great and fun. side quests are also plenty in this game and they are not very tiring either. Overall...i really enjoyed it.
