I think it's same as how almost all WRPGs are based on everything D&D/Tolkien. When I saw Serenity I found so many similarities between it and Mass Effect. And now when I am playing Halo, I find Mass Effect to be inspired a lot from it as well. So, If anything, Bungie must have just been inspired by Starcraft. If anything its Starcraft that would have borrowed stuff from Alien(s). Just another reason why the first two movies are so f**king awesome. That was a time when the Alien was the true master of the hunt.. something that scared you, creeped you out and made you look under the bed rather than serve as just cannon fodder in a lame Aliens vs Predators movie And yes, I was born 3 years after the first of these flicks came out.
