DMR Tip

 

If you're in medium to close range, spam the trigger 4 times or until you see the shields pop, then let the reticle bloom reset and then take the last (controlled) headshot.

Ok I know its not slayer so he is killing a lot of people that arent looking at him but seriously you gotta admit that is pretty f**king insane. 41-0 FFS!

 

Edit: Also I think Arena is now open. Although the thought of running across machines like this guy above makes me wanna stick to Grab bag instead. :P

ok played a few games and wow....bungie really knows how to balance a game.....i thought AA would f**k it up but seriously they play an integral part in the game........and i prefer the DMR to the needle rifle....and the magnum is the shyte.....and there is lag but it is very playable......hats off to bungie

Reach, unlike earlier Halo titles, delivers a gargantuan amount of improvement in Detail, graphically speaking.

 

All the videos have so far shown the impressive level of detailing in the weapon models.

 

 

I disagree! I've seen couple of Reach HD videos on LIVE and can assure that the graphics are definitely waaaaayyyyy better than HALO 3! Check out ViD Doc 2 which includes lots of game play... Will confirm that same after getting hands on exp on BETA! :D

On game related stuff: Grenades are too powerful, and the DMR is crappy. Pistol is nice - not as powerful as the ODST magnum, but definitely usable. The AR is very weak.

I think very few people have actually played the DM role in games before.

 

The role is supposed to be:

1. Support at mid-long distances in squad sized situations, as opposed to the (usually) two/single member sniper teams.

2. Movement is normally with the squad as opposed to more independent positioning (sniper).

3. As a DM, you have greater responsibility for controlling the battle and taking out the opposing DM (if any) than for being the first to meet the opposing team.

4. A DM is not always a one shot one kill role, cover fire is also required of a DM.

 

I wish this can hold true even in a faster game like Halo. The Reach DMR is probably easier to use than in more 'realistic' games, where if you land yourself in a close quarters fight you're pretty much dead.

 

I personally love the idea of it being an unforgiving weapon in close quarters (missing a DMR shot at close range can cost ya). Hopefully, it will help divide teams up by role (instead of the BR handling everything from close in to across the map). Remains to be seen if people adapt to it and start using a DMR like a BR, or if only the ones with very good aim can do so.

Coz I was thinking of buying a new ODST disk just for the beta.....If it's just for 15 days....it's sooooo not worth! :(

Noctis is joking, Bungie won't be so cruel..

 

The last few days, May 16-19, (I think) as of now will be open to everyone, even on silver accounts.

 

EDIT

However, Xbox Live Silver members will get a chance to play the Reach beta (as well as Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST) online for free from 9 a.m. PDT on May 14 through 9 a.m. PDT on May 17. The beta concludes for everyone else on May 19.

Yep. I am starting to warm up to the DMR and I think in the end it will be a good change. Its a little tough to get used to but the problem isnt the DMR, the maps arent really the best ones to be using it. In the two maps so far its mostly a support weapon. With slightly larger maps its gonna become a fearsome weapon in the right hands.

 

Needler rifle still pees all over it though, esp at close and medium range (DMR beats it at long range though). Also wouldnt mind playing Covie Swat slayer with the Nerfle.
