I have 4650 (weaker than 8800gts) and 2.2 Ghz AMD Dual core, and I get a 25-30 fps on 1366x768 on medium-high settings. So you can play it nicely. spindoctor Posted March 29, 2011 Report Share Posted March 29, 2011 The DVD installer doesn't require CD Key while installing. The key is required for activation and playing the game. Now suppose I just take my installed folder to his PC, paste it their, and then he activates it using the key he purchased, will that work? pasting your folder directly probably won't work. it could though, but these days spawn installs working are rare. but you should be able to install from your dvd with no issues. and yes, activating the key should work. I am playing it on my 4 year old rig on the second highest setting at my native res (1400x900) and frame rate is always close to the 50 mark. And the game looks absolutely amazing. i have 8400 gs 512 mb which cant play crysis 2 i think.u mentioned 4 yr old rig so which graphic card do u have. They optimized their engine to support much much much higher quality lighting and particles along with improvement in performance, granted they did took out few shaders like POM and water FFT complexity...but I feel this is because it may be incompatible with their lighting solution. In fact Nano vision is fkin useless in both SP and MP Aren't there a few sections in the second half of the game where you just HAVE to use it? Few thoughts on my very limited playtime. One benefit of conslolization is that the game runs EXTREMELY well. AI is a mixture of stupid (not reacting to a LOT of things), smart (they flank nicely and use nades smartly) and weird (one guy started shooting me as soon as I deCloaked, which doesnt sound that bad until you realize I deCloaked behind his back and he had no way of seeing me). Mouse controls feel solid. Dont know if it was fixed in the new patch or not but it finally feels right. Checkpoint system is REALLY erratic. Sometimes it will give you 2 of them back to back when nothing has happened and a couple of times it let me run through 2 long and tough firefights with zero checkpoints. THIS IS WHY YOU DONT REMOVE QUICKSAVE YOU f**king MORONS! I have no idea whats going on with the story. Its all over the place. Still its only the start, maybe it will come together later. All in all, till now its a solid game. Crytek didnt exactly bring their A game here but still they are one of the few developers whose B game is better than 90% of other shooters out there. Same here, just love how well it looks and runs. Wasn't able to reproduce the error that a friend had which I posted earlier here. Didn't even need to OC to get it running smooth on my comparatively old rig. Again, this is at 1440x900. Tried playing with the gamepad (360's gamepad) too and it works well. A bit too well, the only reason I switched back was because of the stupid grenade throwing control (double tap Y button), G was much easier. But yes, the lack of quicksave is so damn annoying, especially after going through some of those Heavies. Once I wasted some C4, thought "Ok let's just get back to the last checkpoint and try again and not waste it this time around" and it sent me back almost to the beginning of the level. The game just feels good and feels different compared to shooters I've played in the past year. I'm enjoying it much more than any other FPS in recent times. The story is decent, it's meant to be a bit all over the place, just brush up on who Strickland was in the original game, else references to him will kinda be missed. Works well without framerate dips on extreme/hardcore here on a C2D with an 8800GTX. I don't notice too much of a difference between advanced and hardcore though. Medium/advanced will easily work on yours. Try hardcore, if fps goes down, it might do so in certain scenes where you go out onto an open area suddenly. Joy Posted March 29, 2011 Report Share Posted March 29, 2011 SP is really epic , loving the stealthy duels with the aliens , its great that aliens have classes as well according to difficulty , regular , moderate and elite ones who normally are very few but take a lot of bullets & rockets to go down. They have a patrol area and keep running in it. Its like - -----------------a------------ b----------------------------c-------- --------d--------------e-------------- And the aliens just keep running from one point to another a-b-d-e-c-a.
