does adding mod chip ll solve the problem?can i play original and pirated games of any region?

i dont know if these kind of discussions are allowed on this forum or not but the answer is yes. adding a universal modchip will make your console region free

ooops...i am sorry. i gave you a wrong answer.there is no modchip.i was misinformed by a wrong post somewhere on net. post of V made me search for it. till now there is no method for making a console regionfree. only there is a method to change the region code of console from one region to another. .this method needs a infectus mod chip, and extracting the cpu key and then patching up key vault with the required region code information(the region code which you want your console to be changed) by connecting the console to pc using gentoo beta 2 live cd.i have a little confusion if 360's above exploitable kernel (dashboard)version 4532 0r 4548,(which are definitely not the latest updated ones with halo3 disc) can be connected using gentoo live xenon cd. anyway here are the links if someone wants to study. :D

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=621073 and

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=621053 and all the other information u need ,

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showforum=174

needs a lot of reading and not much useful untill you are really into 360's scene.

on the other hand siddu you can definitely get the required region-coded iso's (whichever u want) for your particular coded 360, which are floating everywhere on net.

sailor, any precautions to take while attempting to mod a MS28 drive? (iextreme 1.2c, usb flash disc, iprep, via sata w/ drivers, torx screwdriver - all check)

V

ps: had attempted to burn some 360 isos last year, but even with jap mitsubishis (verbatim) my disc quality scans were very bad (PIE/PIFs galore, especially after layer change)

hi V, everything you know already. the precautions may be:

- to use bootable u.s.b drive only as floppies are not reliable that much & can betray anytime.

- update to latest via drivers from www.viaarena.com

-preferably have an updated bios

- is your card is not detected at mtkflash: choose other port, and preferably disable other optical drives

-in 10 sec bad flash recovery method for ms28 time for starting 360 is experimental, it can be anywhere between 4 to 10 secs.

- while using ixterme 1.2vrevc to open in xbm/iprep do not use ixtr12-i.bin file;use other file. and check for its MD5 value after opening in xbm or iprep with as given in tutorials and textbooks

one thing additional i would like to say that iprep is reported to cause errors at the third bank of flashing. i will advice you to make bootable u.s.b drive using xtreme boot maker version 0.3.6 and not 0.5.3. if it gives error of unrecognized ixtreme firmware just ignore it. and proceed.

also u will need maximus firmware toolbox v 4.0.(the one used for spoofing drive keys and changing drive of motherbord). i tell u this method is more logical to understand no nowhere there is a chance to brick your drive.it uses mtkflash utility which is a standard firmware updating utility for dvd drives(optical).

i am posting a link to the step by step tutorial for this flashing. hope u will find it useful:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=573693

the link for xtremebootmaker 3.6 in first page is not working. use the link at post #467 at page32 of same topic.

you will get a link for firmwaretoolbox2.0 which will also be fine or it will autoupdate to fwtoolbax4.0.

if you are using the above method i will wish that you read post #481,#486,#489 of page 33 in same topic link i gave.

recovery from bad flash is 100% sure with this method. lets see what suits best to u. :wallbash:

post #450 of page30 is also useful.

basically if i'm careful and do not proceed with flashing my drive till i'm 100% sure that my original firmware has been successfully backed up, then there's nothing to fear, right???

also i couldnt find any threads/info on iprep causing errors while flashing (third bank). the one thread i did find mentioned that the floppy had an error which caused the flash to fail at the third bank...

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...w=&st=&

i'm still not sure whether my drive is ms28, but i've got all the tools (and hardware) just in case, coz after the first flash, it becomes a ms28 in any case (for subsequent flashes)

u are very right, as long as u have made a backup of ur original firmware and u have got the drive key for ur mobo, u have nothing to worry. why i was telling u to prefer xbm3.6 because this approach is more modular and logical to execute. u urself dump ur original fw by mtkflash, check and copy its key by fw toolbox, replace it on ixtrm.bin and flash the resultant with mtkflash. in iprep these series of steps are autogenerated after idump command; so u have lesser control over the process. anyway its a matter of personal flavour.

ms25 actually doesnt become ms28 after 1st flashing but all xtreme fw after 4.x versions have fw flashing lockout routines firmguard like ms28 so u need 10 sec trick or enble 0800 disc to upgrade after them. as for burning which drive u r using? try to use imgburn,at speeds lesser than 2.4x and manually set its thread's cpu priority to high in taskmanager.hope that helps.
