I personally have a Pc with a 9600 and another with a GTX 260. Also a friend of mine has an 8800

Ill list out the game which run at the max possible res on a dell 24" which is 1920X1200

1.) Batman Arkham Asylum

2.) Call of Duty Modern warfare 2

3.) All the Steam stuff...and loads of sh*t here..Half Life, Left 2 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2 etc

4.) Pro Evo 2010

5.) Red Faction

6.) Borderlands

7.) Sabotuer

And thats just the stuff which I have installed. Im sure anything coming out for another 6 months atleast will run on all high on the 9600.

Even an 8800 GTX will last for quite a bit.

So yeah...a 9600 will work good for you..and its sh*t cheap...if you can flex your muscle more you can put in a grand to get a GTX 250 for 6k. And thats going to SURELY last you an year. So I still say go for the 24"...it does make a difference...this coming from a guy who switched out his 22" after 2 months and felt a huge difference. 22" will limit your ability to expand into a better graphic card later on. It will lock you at sub HD resolution. You dont want that hapenning.

@EZIO...and we typed all this stuff for NOTHING...DAMN YOU...anyways go for the 24"...you wont get full HD on 22"..and once again DAMN YOU!!!

Ha ha...mOOOAAR than enough...dont worry...you are covered till next year. Though when you can get better quality RAM...wont affect you now...but good quality sh*t like Corsair XMS and OCZ increases life later on.

If you dont want to...sure no problem...that setup is awesome.

^^ Absolutely , a 4870 will run any game at max till next 4-5 years depending upon the rate of development. :P

Even my 2 yr old 8800GTX OC'd edition runs every games at max @ 1680x1050 , except Crysis which I have to play on High instead of Very High to get smoother FPS.

@gaurav...Thats what i thought...but I have better performance with a 9600 than my friends 8800 on an almost similar mobo, proccy setup.

Also this may sound crazy but textures look better on the 9 series than the 8 series...I tested it myself on Fallout 3, UT 3 etc

I asked the price for Corsair dominators 2x2GB rams and they quoted it for 7.4k... :panic: Therefore went the other way...

PS: Killy, PES on PC is the sh*t... ;) Selling my PS3 copy soon. The difference is too huge... :(

Wats 7200rms :panic:

Lol it should be rpm , revolutions per minute. :(

@Niks u should have gone for Corsair XMS or OCZ High Performance Ram with Heatsinks, I got my OCZ Fatality1 2x2GB with heatsinks for 2700 a year back from Newegg via KMD.

The Corsair Domintar Ram 2x2GB was 15k when I upgraded my PC in 07, now its almost half in price. ;)

@Gaurav...by the way...8800 GTX is better than the 9600...the stock ones...the one which my friend has...9600 gave better performance on higher settings. Thats for sure...

@Nikhil: Absolutely...The X360/Ps3 versions look like shite when compared to the PC version.

About Crysis...for multiplayer...on my gtx 260...even I run it at 1440 something res...to have no lag at all...it hitches at 1680 on a gtx 260

The only possibility is a different monitor or some program running in the background. Come on, it can't be possible at all unless that guy racks up his settings so much that he has a framerate drop while you're running at slightly lower specs..

Anyway , for those who want a benchmark for reference ---> http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xfx_9600_gt/6.htm

No dude...I do compatiblity testing with a plethora of games at office too...and like I said...9600 does run ahead in many games of the 8800 vanilla...8800 GTX is a whole different story. And the card performance which im talking about was done on one PC. So no chance of a hiccup there.

And im sure you do know that some cards do better in some games particularly.

And to add to that...just as a sidenote...XFX...I think they are overrated...Palit makes much better cards.

No worries... I think for a while i'll stick to these babies... If and when a friend visits US anytime next year i'll get it from him... :(

It runs fine even on Very High as well, but the frame rate drops to below 20fps when explosions are happening etc. and again jumps back to 30-35.For smoother FPS , like 35-40 fps constant I prefer playing on High , the difference is not that much , only lighting gets better on Very High.

Its no doubt the most demanding game still , and is the most photo realistic game ever.

Maybe you're talking about the 8800GTS in which if I remember right there was even a 256/320mb version. I guess that would take a performance hit on higher res against the 9600. But then for me mentally the 8800 range started only on the 8800GT 512mb and then the GTS 640mb and then my card the GTX 768mb.

Yeah people talk lot of crap about Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 being better looking than Crysis...All Hogwash...nothing comes close. It will be quite some time before the common man can run Crysis on highest possible settings. Look at how Far Cry was ahead of its time.
