Solitaire
With all you people talking about crysis I'm tempted to reinstall it and play just for the visuals But no time to do so with Saboteur and Dirt 2 on my PC (Dirt 2 graphics ) and UC2 on the PS3. SchneideR
It runs fine even on Very High as well, but the frame rate drops to below 20fps when explosions are happening etc. and again jumps back to 30-35.For smoother FPS , like 35-40 fps constant I prefer playing on High , the difference is not that much , only lighting gets better on Very High. Its no doubt the most demanding game still , and is the most photo realistic game ever. Will play it again then... Currently playing COD 4 as i am yet to finish it... And Borderlands simultaneously... Also Batman Arkham Asylum looks epic with everything maxed out... Seriously, whenever i used to hear someone say PC games look way better than their console counterparts i used to wonder how that was possible... But the difference is truly vast. Joy
Noob question-Will directx11 games run on 4850 as it is not compatible Nope the card has to support Dx 11 to use it.The 4850 only supports Dx 10.1 max I think. Also don't worry abut Direct X 11 now , its complete bullshit , there will be no games which will truly take advantage of it untill next generation of console come around , as that what shifts PC Gaming standards as well. Same was the case with DirectX 10 drama , hardly any games take advantage of it , Crysis and Call of Juarez are probably the only to games which benefited from it massively. Solitaire
You guys heard some buggers are getting their hands on engineering samples of the Gulftown processors (could look it as Intel's future i9 ) and selling them on eBay. They sold for around $1200, that's LESS than the price of the top of the line i7 lol. Damn if I could just get my hands on one of those babies and put it in a gaming rig. Even my sis-in-law who once worked on the Gulftown was surprised to hear it.
killroy
ooo....That sh*t would be awesome...but then dont you think it would bottleneck the hell out of the other components?
Solitaire
ooo....That sh*t would be awesome...but then dont you think it would bottleneck the hell out of the other components? Well if you had MT's bank balance you could splurge on it, then add up some of the fastest DDR3 ram and get a 5970 or GF100 (that's what Nvidia most lately called the fermi - google for latest pictures from a few days ago) and call it "World's fastest gaming rig".... ..... before something better comes along a few days later
killroy
Yeah only I wouldnt do that even If I had the cash to splurge. My PC upgrades are usually getting the most high end sh*t on the market and then waiting for 3-4 years until it becomes obsolete and then repeat. Also having a PC along with all the other 3 consoles brings some tough tough decisions.

When I first bought this, this had the second fastest dual core proc (the E6750) at that time and a monstrous 8800GTX inside. I plan to keep it for another year or year and a half before replacing the rig. Mainly cos all my cash comes from dad, being an engineering undergrad student I don't earn anything. Joy
You can play any game on your GPU for next 5-6 years , unless DX 11 becomes the min. requirement , like DX 9 today is. At the moment , if ur card doesn't have Dx 11 ,then the extra features like better textures and lighting implemented in Dirt 2 for Dx 11 won't be enabled in options it will be grayed out. Same is the case with Direct X 10 , those who still have Direct X9 cards can play Crysis , just they can't run those enhancements of DX 10 mode which make the game even more prettier.
