Solitaire
HD 7990 for sub-$630 MUST. RESIST. TILL. VOLCANO. ISLANDS. ARRGH. Resist..... that card will suck your power supply like a vampire that hasn't had a bite in a few centuries. Besides prices will go down even further when the next set of cards show up. ALPHA17
AMD planning to unveil 'Volcanic Island' GPU's in September The Hawaii GPU which would be based on a 28nm process would feature massive architectural updates over the previous generation given the time AMD took to release it. But do note that AMD is only going to announce the Hawaii GPU in late September, actual launch would take place sometime later in Q4 (Possibly October as has been hinted many times before). Source: WCCF Tech Also, AMD has finalized their Volcanic Islands family and would first of all showoff their latest Hawaii XT and Hawaii Pro graphic cards. These are based on a new 28nm process design architecture which brings faster performance that is comparable to an NVIDIA’s GK110 based graphics card as hinted by a leaked performance benchmark. The new Hawaii chip would compete directly against the GK110 core which has been a mammoth since the unveil of GeForce GTX Titan in February 2013. The Hawaii XT would replace the current HD 7970 GPU while the Hawaii Pro chip would be replacing the HD 7950 GPU, though we cannot confirm the codenames since there’s some confusion built around them at the moment and nothing seems to be official. That and it's almost a given with the rumored specs of the 9970's that it'll make 7990 a pushover when crossfired - assuming crossfire isn't a bitch this time around. Also , doesn't the 7990 require around 375-380W real world ? I've got a good enough Bronze certified Corsair that'll run either one of these dual-gpu cards or hind-end cards in crossfire / SLI. CrossFire won't be a pain anymore, AMD's frame rate pacing studied @Anandtech.
reddevil23
Hello friends! Need some help. I am a casual gamer. I am looking to upgrade my pc but I want to clarify about a few things first. Here is the config of my current pc that has served me well since 2009: Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93 GHzAsus p5kpl mb Kingston 2 x 2GB 400 MHz ram GeForce 9400 gt 1 GBseagate 500 gb Stock PSU 400wThis rig can still play the likes of CS GO, Fifa/Pes, Dota 2 on medium settings. I could even play Hitman Absolution and Max Payne 3 without any trouble. But it can't handle AC III, tomb raider and won't even run the forthcoming ones. I want to know that if I upgrade my GPU + PSU to better ones, can my existing mb and processor handle it for a year or so? Can my existing cpu and mb support HD 6670/ HD 7750/ 7770? Suggest a decent PSU that can give upto 550WAlso if I decide to upgrade my entire setup, should i wait till the end of the year so that prices might drop a bit? ALPHA17
Here, is part of the answer @PC buying help. Easily, in-fact a new PC now can carry on for ~4 -->5 years depending on the amount you invest. Yes, although none of the cards you have short listed are going to guarantee a good gaming experience even one year down the line. Already answered on the other thread. Price are in the flux for now because of the Rupee, if it appreciates a little vis-á-vis the $ then we might see better prices, else Diwali is a better time to look into purchase in India, not end of the year. Hope this helps, Cheerio! Edited August 13, 2013 by ALPHA17

ALPHA17
Ordering a Graphics Card from flipkart is a good idea or no ? It is okay if you live in remote areas, smaller towns (or areas bereft of PC vendors), if you live in the major metros then local pricing will win out. ALPHA17
One more reason to order from flipkart - Free EMI option Limited to certain banks and I would rather see such an expensive product before collecting it. I have heard and seen enough cases of poor flipkart packaging screwing over certain PC components like hard-drives, CPU coolers et al.
