ALPHA17
I like the adaptive v-sync in these card. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think these cards auto over clock by themselves if the games needs it based on the temperature. Are those frame-rates in single-player or multi-player? The auto-over-clock is a GPU centric Turbo Boost, basically it increases the GPU core to a set limit if the temperatures and TDP of the card allow for it. This has a down side that it eats into actual DiY over-clocking space. The GTX770 is no doubt a good card but the GTX760 ~8000/- -->10000/- quid cheaper performs at par and if you get a good piece there is a fair chance that you can over-clock it a little more and that takes the performance up-to stock GTX780 levels. devil_angel
Guys, Is a haswell laptop worth investing in now? Requirement: Should be at good enough to meet minimum gaming requirements for 2 years. Edited September 27, 2013 by devil_angel
ALPHA17
Requirement: Should be at good enough to meet minimum gaming requirements for 2 years. Budget? Wait for the new AMD Volcanic Island mobile GPU's to be integrated into said laptops if you want to be doubly sure of playing games on said machine. Even though I inquired about the haswell, I'm not entirely sure if I'll be able to afford it. Budget is currently 35-45K.. Anything that will do me good for the next 2 years would be welcome. And I have 3 weeks within which I'll have to buy the lappy :|

Haswell is not out and even if it releases soon, prices will be north of ~45000/- for a machine with a decent GPU at the heart of it and a Core i5 with maybe ~4GB of RAM. devil_angel
I'm looking at i5 ivy based units at that price range primarily. are the and units better? and hasswell is out my friend.....there is one lappy below 45k and the next remotely affordable one is 60k :|

About Ivy-Bridge Core i5 based laptops, try to get laptops with AMD HD76** series or nVidia's GT640M or above GPU in them. Otherwise, pass. Check these laptops out, @flipkart. Android auto-complete ruins my life :| What I meant to ask was, are the equivalent AMD proccys better than i5

Anyway, if you look at just processing grunt from the CPU side the Core i5 stands ahead of the APU but graphical prowess and overall battery efficiency the APU chews the Intel offering. Haswell touts better throttling but its pricing and positioning rule out their relevance here. Edited September 28, 2013 by ALPHA17
zen
So I upgraded my GPU. My present specs are: i7-2700K CPU @ 3.50GHZ, 8 GB RAM and the card I bought is Geforce 760. Getting north of 50-60 fps (locked) on Crysis 3 on Ultra setting. Is the rig good for atleast another two years? Dont intent to buy the PS4 until atleast end-2014. Yes, should cruise through the coming games although heavy weights like The Witcher 3 will require to do a little tweaking to get stable frames. Congratulations on the new acquisition. did you get Arkham Origins along with the card?

Congratulations on the new acquisition. did you get Arkham Origins along with the card? Nope The dealer I bought it from is "not one of the participating vendors". But he was giving me the card on a discounted rate so I didn't bother returning it. How much did it cost you zen? The GTX 760 was for Rs. 19,500 on a discounted rate. It retails at around Rs. 22500 on the market. I made the rig about a year ago, cant really recall how much.

Two major retailers and distributors from there are, The IT Wares and Prime ABGB. Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Hi Necromorph, it is a really tight squeeze in that budget but take a look at the following laptops @flipkart. I suggest that you look at laptops which have the following specifications, Core i5 (3rd / 4th Generation) or Core i7 (3rd Generation) AMD HD7670M or nVidia GT740M ~4GB -->6GB of DDR3 RAM 750GB hard-drive OS of your choice Hope this helps and welcome to the forums, Cheerio!
