Sackboy
Alpha I did some research and came up with this build: CPU: Intel Core i5-4670 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($219.99 @ Newegg) Motherboard: Intel DH87MC ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($114.98 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($79.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($114.99 @ Best Buy) Storage: Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB 3.5" 5900RPM Internal Hard Drive ($198.39 @ Amazon) Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 290 4GB Video Card ($446.13 @ Newegg) Case: Cooler Master Elite 431 Plus (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($39.99 @ Newegg) Power Supply: Cooler Master GX 650W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($85.59 @ Amazon) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (OEM) (64-bit) ($97.98 @ OutletPC) (Ignore the dollars, used PC Parts Picker) The total price referencing from Flipkart (And snapdeal for cabinet) will be 85666 What are your opinions on this build? Where can I compromise? FYI I would be gaming on a 1080p monitor and I dont mind to doing upgrades once every 2-3 years. Change the motherboard and power supply Wait for alpha to give you the specifics

ALPHA17
^ It is an unbalanced RIG, , suggest you go with the following, Intel Core i5 4670 / i7 4770 GIGABYTE B85M-D3H G.Skill RIPJAWS / Corsair Vengence 4GB x2 1866MHz (higher frequency provides better performance combined with Intel Haswell chips) Skip the SSD, for now, go for a standard hard-drive 1TB. Add SSD's in the follow up upgrade cycle MSi Twin Frozr R9-280X 3GB / R9-290 4GB Seasonic M12II 650W (or look at the Seaonic X series SMPS) Cooler Master N500 / Corsair Carbide 230T / Corsair Carbide 400R are what I suggest MicroSoft Windows 8.1 Pro costs ~9000/- in Delhi, maybe you can get it from some other source (abroad / Project Dream Spark) Rest pretty much okay. Hope this helps, Cheerio! Change the motherboard and power supply Wait for alpha to give you the specifics Thanks for keeping the faith. =D Edited March 15, 2014 by ALPHA17

Replying to it doesn't help get the point across, and merging a thread containing multiple replies often jumbles up the latest posts in mother thread. Like now. ColorCodePurple
^ It is an unbalanced RIG, , suggest you go with the following, Intel Core i5 4670 / i7 4770 (Is it worth it if I go for i7 4470 while compromising on the GPU?) There is around a 4k differance between these two proc's GIGABYTE B85M-D3H G.Skill RIPJAWS / Corsair Vengence 4GB x2 1866MHz (higher frequency provides better performance combined with Intel Haswell chips) Skip the SSD, for now, go for a standard hard-drive 1TB. Add SSD's in the follow up upgrade cycle MSi Twin Frozr R9-280X 3GB / R9-290 4GB ( What do I lose out on if I go for 280 instead of 290?) I'm using Crysis 3 as a benchmark since its closer to Star Citizen [Really the only game that made me convert from console to PC master race Also How is GTX 760 for one monitor 1080p gaming? I save a lot buying that, money that I can put into a better processor. or maybe an SSD Seasonic M12II 650W (or look at the Seaonic X series SMPS) I noticed that this is a couple of thousand bucks more expensive than the other one, I am assuming this PSU has more efficiency? Cooler Master N500 / Corsair Carbide 230T / Corsair Carbide 400R are what I suggest (I was looking into NZXT Phantom 410 too. is that good?) MicroSoft Windows 8.1 Pro costs ~9000/- in Delhi, maybe you can get it from some other source (abroad / Project Dream Spark) (Might have to go the alternative way for first couple of months since I would be going all out on the comp itself) Rest pretty much okay. Hope this helps, Cheerio! Thanks a lot for this! Edited March 15, 2014 by ColorCodePurple
ALPHA17
^ For the processor, it is up-to you. What all are you going to do with the PC, save gaming. If the major chunk is gaming, stick with the i5. With the R9-280X you loose out, more V-RAM performance vis-á-vis the R9-290 / GTX780 maybe future performance penalties will be more marked. What you gain is ~9000/- breathing space to save or apply elsewhere in the build (256GB SSD). The GTX760 is not a wise choice considering your budget and performance standards. The Seasonic X series SMPS are the best you can get in performance and efficiency, the M12II is a bit more balanced and value oriented variant. Also, the X series are fully modular while the latter is a semi-modular SMPS. The NZXT cabinet to look out for in this price range is the NZXT Source 530, everything else is a waste of money in my opinion, apart from that you can look at the cabinets I mentioned above. Hope this helps, Cheerio!

ALPHA17
^ Is an okay build, you can play most current titles at 1920 x1080 but in about a year the performance will drop sharply.
anish81
Hello alpha, I am considering building a budget gaming pc with following configurations: intel i5 4670 Msi b85-g43 Corsair vengence ddr3 8GB Gtx 660 2GB ddr5 Is this ok for gaming @ 1080p or @900p using high/ medium settings. Will keep the system for atleast 2 years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Will keep the system for atleast 2 years. Make a couple of changes, go for a Core i5 4570 / 4440 Instead of the MSi motherboard go for the GIGABYTE B85M-D3H. And finally swap out the GTX660 standard for an AMD R9-270X or GTX660Ti. Where are you purchasing this PC from? Hope this helps, Cheerio!
