ALPHA17
What would I need to upgrade to play almost everything on ultra or max settings for the next few years? Any specific models you would recommend? Budget is kinda tight now so I can't spend 40k or something. The graphics card has to support HD audio bitstreaming btw. Almost everything has to be changed now in the light of the newer generation consoles. Should have weighed it out before purchasing any hardware. Right now, you will need to get at-least an AMD or Intel quad-core. At-least 8GB of DDR3 RAM (1866MHz or better), the graphic card, maybe you can use for a year more but do not expect it to run on anything but a mix of MEDIUM -->LOW settings, depending on title. For running games at 1080p-60fps consistently for the next three or so years, an AMD R9-280 / nVidia GTX770 4GB or better card will be your minimum investment. I think HD audio bit-streaming has been standardised, although, I am not a 100% on this. What about cloud saves? I don't want my game saves to be deleted every time I format my PC. Backing up saves manually for each game is a nuisance and some don't even have a particular folder! I'll be connecting it to my TV and will be using a controller (the Xbox one for windows) as I want to relax and not sit at my desk. But the question is, will FPS games like Call of Duty have aim assist? Because I can aim properly with the mouse but I need aim assist for a controller. Cloud saves are supported by most games with digital DRM systems like STEAM / ORIGIN / UPlay! Although games sans DRM still prefer to put things under User documents. And if you want to really be safe on this end, maintaining a manual back-up is best. FPS titles do not support aim-assist as far as I am aware. I think TITANFALL is the only notable exception. P.S. -- Merging thread.
ssytu2939446d
^ That's a shame cos I was thinking of just getting a graphics card for 9k, a processor for another 8k and being done with it. How much would I get for the GTX 465 if I sell it right now?
ALPHA17
^ For that I would not part more than ~7000/- depending on its condition and whether it has any warranty on it.
ssytu2939446d
^ For that I would not part more than ~7000/- depending on its condition and whether it has any warranty on it. No warranty as I got it 5 years ago. But it's in excellent condition. I used it for 5months before I had to 'downgrade' to a GTX 460 for the bitstreaming feature. Should I sell it now or hold out to use it in the future as a dedicated Physx card or something?
ALPHA17
I would sell it as keeping as a dedicated PHYsX unit is useless and will only contribute to higher power consumption.

ALPHA17
^ Intel Core i5 4690 (get the k version if you want to over-clock) GIGABYTE B85M-D3H Corsair / G.Skill 4GB x2 1866MHz RAM nVidia GTX970 / AMD R9-290 Seasonic S12G-650W You can save a little money by getting an AMD processor and motherboard although this will come at the cost of overall performance drop and increase in power consumption (also, AMD processors do not have an in-build iGP on the CPU die), AMD FX-6300 ASUS M5A97 R2.0 [rest same as above] Hope this helps, Cheerio! http://www.flipkart.com/zotac-nvidia-gtx-750ti-2-gb-ddr5-graphics-card/p/itmdtth6ymguyapq?pid=GRCDTTH6YMGUYAPQ&otracker=from-search&srno=t_2&query=nvidia+gtx&ref=a79c43e8-6841-4326-a25b-bd02c4b22f1d ? Weaker than the PlayStation 4 GPU. Edited October 16, 2014 by ALPHA17
PhantomShade
Should i get an r9 280x now or wait for gtx 960? I heard it has been delayed to Q1 2015. Correct me if i am wrong.
ALPHA17
^ If you can wait for the GTX960, by all means, please hold off a purchase. Else, the R9-280X is a solid purchase. Welcome to the forums.

ALPHA17
^ Okay, he can purchase it. Although future titles will not run very well / dependent on requirements. Hope this helps, Cheerio!Make sure he gets the 4th Generation Core i7 variant coupled with at-least 8GB of RAM, more is always better.
