Except 280x, none of the above will be good for next 2-3 years. 760 is already struggling. 280x will struggle after 1 year more or so. But it will be good enough. 290 second hand will be good. Best option is 970 for next 3 years. Doesn't consume much power and will easily play all games decently till next 2 years. But it will cost a lot.

he does not want to max out just play on good resolution with good enough settings so i guess a 280x /290/760 would serve him good

yes ambar..like harjas said..I dont want Dx12 high.. draw distance high and testerone ultra...that is already high...what i need is just high resolution and smooth fps. Bas...at most i might do is Shadow details high...coz i like shadow effects but otherwise dont care of any other settings in a PC game.

It still will struggle. Games will get way more demanding.

Also why are you mentioning 760 with 290 and 280x. 290 is way better than 760. Heck 280 beats 760 in almost every game now comfortably. Dont buy anything below a 280x.

Not really, the GTX760 keeps pace with the R9 280 (HD7950), it is only in games that require the 3GB V-RAM that you notice a dip in performance vis-á-vis the latter (especially over-1080p gaming).

This is compensated with a more frugal power draw, better thermals and finally better over-clock potential.

GTX760 vs. R9 280

Never heard of the brand, avoid.

Also, that might be the reason it has lower warranty. Apart from the card being even more ancient than the one you currently have.

^ You will first have to make a call, you want to stick to console gaming or come onto the PC side?

Where do you stay and sourcing of components?

If building a new PC what parts do you need and what do you have lying around, from an older build, or miscellaneous household consumer electronics.

How comfortable are you with adjusting to the PC ecosystem and its quirks (no used games, unoptimised releases, huge patch sizes).

About your questions,

  • yes XBox Live Market does hold deals but you must pay a subscription fee to get the most out of it and play multi-player (same with PlayStation franchise).
  • the R9 270X is a decent card but I would suggest you get something with more muscle like the GTX960 or AMD R9 280X if you want to go for a long haul.

Hope this helps, Cheers!

I stay in Mumbai.

Got no components whatsoever.

Had a laptop.

Cost is the main driver for me.

So if it goes above 55k it would be difficult to justify the extra 25k I've to pay instead of an xbox one.

I don't think I would have problems adjusting to pc as most of my games are digital which I pick from ps plus or at extremely low prices.

Okay, so what kind of games do you play?

And you okay sacrificing most of the exclusives you will get on the consoles?

Games I'm looking forward to are arkham knight, mad max, sunset overdrive, etc.

Really like sunset overdrive

You would not get SUNSET OVERDRIVE on PC, at-least not in the foreseeable future.

But rest you can get, if you are still interested in building a PC, get the following parts,

Intel Core i5 4590

GIGABYTE B85M-D3H / MSi H97M-G43

Kingston / Corsair 4GB x2 1600MHz

MSi GTX960 / R9-280X

Seasonic S12II 520W / Cooler Master G550M

Western Digital Blue / Seagate Barracuda 7200.15 1TB

HP / ASUS (boxed) optical drive

(chassis of your choice)

(use your old TV for a display, if you have one)

Hope this helps, Cheers!

Guys,XFX america mein life time warranty deta hai but it is only for america right?? i searched on few sites here and there and it isjust 3 years.

Also what is TAG warranty?? TAG i mean??

XFX does not have a proper distributor in India as far as I am aware, so best avoid them unless you can find out their service centre in Calcutta.

TAG (Technology and Gadgets) is an importer who brings in the hardware for certain companies and upholds their warranty terms locally.

^ That (SAMSUNG 22" LED) will do fine until you collect money to purchase a better display.

Televisions have the same resolution at a larger size (so lower ppi) and the refresh rate is pretty standard at minimum of 30Hz these days, you can try to alter that to 60Hz in Windows Properties later.
