devil_angel
Tyler, Reaper and I were planning to hit it soon. Is it a steam game, meaning I can't get it second hand?
landmarktiger
No - does not include Windows, UPS, speakers. A decent monitor should be available in the range of 12-13k. The big difference in the TV is that it's large and meant to be viewed at a distance. Whereas PC gaming is usually up close to the screen because your keyb mouse is there. If you want the GTX 460, call up the shop before you go. They are in huge demand and not easily available. Get the i5-760. You could wait a few more weeks when the price of the i7 might also drop. So if i add the price of windows,UPS,monitor(abt 23inch lcd 1080p with hdmi input),speakers (cheap skeakers nothing fancy) - How much would that rig cost me total- about 75k? Bulovski
Yes - go for any speakers, a good UPS because the monitor + 650W PS will require lots of power backup. You could always save on windows price by getting Ubuntu and using Wine to play games but what's another 5k for win7 when you're spending 70k+? Make sure to get either WinXP or win7 - not that POS Vista.

landmarktiger
the i7 950 got slashed to 300$ on newegg and amazon . Great value for money considering the 930 is still retailing for 290$. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211&cm_re=i7_950-_-19-115-211-_-Product Anyone know if the India pricing has been affected from this? How much is 950 retailing for here?. If the Indian pricing is the same then what are the disadvantages of importing one from US or UK? Are the warranties on CPU/GPU global or local? m-JeRi
ahhh.. desktop PC's... after over 15 years... i bid good bye to assembled desktop PC's... finding parts... low balling price...assembling stuff..tinkering to get max...and pulling hair when all hell break loose... It was fun. I loved it. But nowadays.. i feel more lazier than before to try and fix the "issues". So moving to a laptop with 2 year complete cover, thanks to a very generous person. A god send for me. Now just a XFi card+Tuner left to sell.. after that adieu. I still remember how excited i was to get that XFi... I got it through the tyrant aman. I thght that would be with me for years and years... alas..people change.. priorities change... and I get lazy.

A gaming desktop configured at 50k will perform similar to a gaming laptop priced at 1lakh+. Some people prefer the convinience and portability of laptops while others prefer performance to price ratio and upgradability/flexibilty of desktops. ctrl_alt_del
I think my gfx card is fried. Was playing Kane and Lynch II demo when suddenly it froze and then the screen went blank. I restarted the system but the display won't show. Finally, I just removed my 8800GTX and then connected the moniter to the on-board graphics card and everything started working fine. So I suppose the card is gone, right guys?
AtheK
ya seems like that...try removing all the nvidia drivers and then put it in...

ctrl_alt_del
Hmmm....I could try that but I guess it will have to wait until I get back to India. Does it make sense to pick up a graphics card here in the States?
AtheK
it only makes sens to pick a card from states... EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked Edition with Lifetime warranty - 240 $
Virus
No dont buy a card from States since for warranty you will have to send the card back to States everytime you want to RMA it and pay the shipping costs its better to Buy from India itself for a little more so to avoid all hassles
AtheK
I agree with this. The chance of something going wrong is small anyway. Not to mention better choice of brands too. +1 also add to it, cad is gonna be in US for 2+ yrs
ctrl_alt_del
LOL, not really. I just might come back in Jan. Not really too keen on staying here for that long. But if I do come back in Jan, I could seriously consider picking up a card on the way back. Are there any tech-stuff related sales during Christmas? Can I expect a price-drop/discount during that time? When is the best to go tech-stuff shopping in US?
