/Cancels wife's tickets for Novemeber

I was comparing the prices of CPU/GPU btw here and US recently- the CPU here are very competetively priced 0they are about the same price as US. The GPUs here a little more expenssive and fewer choices. Like 460MSI 1gb is 230$ there and 13250 here.

Guyz which is the best PC chassis: The cooler master Haf 922 or NZXT tempest evo..

The main features i'm looking forward is build quality, cable management and good fans...and also will be buying cpu cooler so enough space too...And also looks :)

Let me know..

i have the 932(not 922) and it's 20+kg..not that bulky for me though i can carry it easily :boxing:

so i bet 922 shouldn't be that heavy since it's a mid-tower

but more cooler master cases mid tower ones have arrived which can house cards as big as hd 5970 (i have 5970 and it fits with extra space left :P ..but that's the 932)

and the cooling?? i think HAF means HIGH AIR FLOW so it's self explainatory  it has 200+ mm fans ..1 on top 1 on front and 1 on the left side

i'm using the cooler master V10..costed me abt 4.5-5k and it performs as close to water cooling so u don't have to fear about leaks and stuff u know :pwnt:

OK here goes:

One of my Dad's old PCs conked off. Basically some part of his motherboard fried and he has a P4. So he wants to go for a newer machine for his basic needs at home, he has 2 other laptops and another desktop for other stuff, but yeah.

Needs:

No gaming

Maybe some HD video

Mostly browsing the web

A fair bit of multitasking

Usual word processing and spreadsheets and stuff

Backing up data from mobile devices

That's all he really does.

So I was thinking of getting a lower end system with integrated graphics because he does no gaming, but with around 4gb of DDR3 and a decent motherboard and a 1TB HDD.

And the Core i3s and Athlon X4s are what I'm having trouble deciding between. Both cost around the same. The comparison here is between the Athlon II X4 635 (or 640 if it's available) and the Core i3 530. Both in the Rs. 5000-5400 range.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I haven't tested a Athlon X4, but if you want good integrated graphics then core i3 should be a good choice. It's ig chip is powerful enough to run 1080p videos smoothly and even 2-3 year old games with low - mid res at mid - high settings. Also works rather well with Source games if you are interested.

Just note that you will need a h55 board to use the integrated graphics.

Thanks :hi:

Kinda thought of this:

Core i3 530

ASUS P7H55 Pro

Seagate 1TB SATA HDD

Zebronics PSU + Cab

Microsoft Wired Optical Mouse + KB

DDR3 2GB x 2

Samsung 22x DVD-RW

Dell 21.5" LED / LCD (similar price around 9-9.5k)

Altec Lansing VS2621

Totals up to around Rs 33-34k.

Using prices from Delta Peripherals (deltapage.com) here in Chennai including TN VAT.

i5 650 based would add another 4k to this.

Unable to decide what motherboard would go best (at lowest possible price of course) with an AMD Athlon II X4 635 (vs i3) or a Phenom II X4 955 BE (vs the i5 650). So I haven't come up with possible totals for that.

What would you say? decent config?

Yeah, that should fit your needs perfectly.

I don't see any use with getting a i5 650 here. If you plan on upgrading this to a gaming pc later then get a i5 730 (quad core), otherwise i3 530 is more than enough.

Thanks, yeah I guess it does fit my needs.

But i had to do an estimate of that too cos of my dad's inherent belief that an i5 is always better than an i3 for any application.

You mean 750? The 750 and 760 are nice but there's no GMA chip on them integrated. So I guess i3 is the only choice for the current situation.

guys you can use techshop.in also

anyways for the V10, it should fit considering the fact that a hd 5970 fits there XD (that's what they had advertised in the poster of that case)

and also that both are cooler master....there should be no reason for that not fitting there

and if you got doubt of any RAM fitting below the cooler, don't worry..my corsair dominator RAM fits there like they were made for each other LOL
