Thanks for the info Rakesh. I did some reading and from a gamer's pov, it seem to do the job just fine like i7. Hence, I'm bit inclined towards Phenom II. It costs atleast 3k less than i7. But I've never bought any AMD system, and I'm a bit skeptical. Since its just a difference of 3k, I was wondering if I should just buy i7 !

No need to worry about that... Just decide on a config and go for it... AMD and almost all their chipset providers have 3yrs warranty... I think its the same as Intel and anyways I have not heard about any particular problems associated with AMD... And also one piece of advice I give to you is that just fix a date for getting the PC and stick to it coz the prices keep falling down and better products will keep getting introduced... The PC which I bought 3 months ago can be assembled now for about 3 - 4k less... But it doesn't matter coz I won't have to upgrade for atleast 2 - 3 years...

Including the monitor and speakers it cost me 63k when I bought it... I got it through a relative who is a dealer... But you can get it anywhere on SP Road or with Athek :) And if you stick to this config you can probably get a better graphics card and a better SMPS for about the same cost :)

Ah, Athek says my budget is too low :bash:

An i7 system is more expensive than a Phenom II system because of the expensive X58 motherboards and the DDR3 Rams... You can maybe get a good processor and a good motherboard and maybe an average graphics card and SMPS for your budget and maybe upgrade your system after a couple of years when you have more cash... Thats what I had planned for my system anyways :exoticdance:

Looking at the cost of Proc around 15k and board again around 14k, yes 50k is a lil low :O

Works and not :samui:, but ya its a good idea, but when you are getting a system SMPS should be good always, no matter you put exp or cheap card but no compromise with SMPS

athek, can you suggest me a budget for i7 system along with the components. like rakesh says, i'll take an avg gfx card for now. I can stretch my budget a bit. Should I open this thread at overclocked.in ?

Also, what will be the best config you suggest for 50k (if its phenom II based) ?

Reading the reviews of i5 as well. Seems to be giving better performance than high end phenoms :) Also, the cost is comparable. Any idea when is it launching in India ?

since you dont plan to overclock much, i5 is a good choice.

We will also be launching our own systems based around i5 architecture soon, yes you can have a thread there.

i5 has still not reached bangalore, so we can't comment on prices yet.

@Jason Bourne 009, thanks for the info buddy :)

@Athek, That's cool. Let me know when you get hold of i5. I can wait for some more time, I hope I get a i5 machine atleast within 50k :(

Initial prices indicate that you will be able to save around 4k on proc and 4k on UD3 motherboard and if you decide to go for a little cheaper video card, we can then get it within 50k
