the i5 3337U is clocked btw 1.7-2.4 ghz i think (cld be off by a point or 2)

games generally reco procs with high clock speeds , like read somewhere crysis 3 asks for 2.8 in reco specs.

guys, will this machine be able to play games for a 2-3 yrs?

Yes, that is a place where this system will stumble. I mean the SKU marked with the U suffix, the M should not have that many problems.

Maybe for a year, tops two this will be able to play titles @720p with medium eye-candy. Not more than that.

so for gaming purpose it'd make sense to go for the AMD a10 4600m with 7670M 2gb ?

basic office stuff like tally etc i guess the amd would handle anyway.

^^ Even the Trinity based offering is no guarantee that the PC will be able to play titles for longer.

Yes basic office stuff can be handled with even more pedestrian systems.

My current PC

i5

3.2 Ghz

4 GB RAM

GeForce 210

I have 5k to spend, and I want to upgrade my rig in some way.. what good graphics card can i get?

^^ Please save the cash, under ~5000/- nothing worthwhile is floating (even second hand). So get a card with a more substantial budget.

P.S. -- What SMPS do you have?

Cant say i would disagree a lot.

But in the end its more a personal choice, win 7 and win 8 are almost simmilar in performance ,if in future it changes ,ofcourse i ll shift to win 8,but i dont think it ll come to that.

While I was A LOT hesitant to shift to Win8, I eventually did just around the time I got my SSD.

When I was test driving win8 on a spare hdd, i noticed it used around 400-500mb less RAM than win7

at any given point of time. This was a major factor that made me go over to the win8.

p.s: Win 8 on SSD takes 5 seconds to boot. After BIOS POST to Win desktop. I have configured Win 8

to behave and look just like win 7. Except for the Aero part which I don't miss that much. While I wouldn't

strut around advising everyone to move to Win 8, I will recommend SSDs to all.

Yeah win 8 boots a lot quicker i have heard, win 7 on my desk boots in about 8-9 secs ....so yeah it can be a nice upgrade ,may be i ll jump in sometime too...but like many ppl i have my doubts if i lll actually find it better...guess the only way is to get and test it out...
