otacon
I was tryin to register myself on the PSN with my country as "INDIA". SONY came with a message "This facility is not available for your country" (somethin of that sort)... With advice from GI members I registered myself with my country name changed. I was shocked by the double standards maintained by SONY!!! We here in INDIA pay $500 for an 80 Gig PS3... where as $500 in US gets a 160 Gig PS3. We sure pay a premium price for all the products around. But the service we get back is nothing close to wat our friends receive in the west. Question: I was wondering Y does SONY has to keep PSN away from its INDIAN audience??? I would love to read your opinion on this... or share any other similar incidents of double standards maintained by (So called) esteemed organisation... Aftrunner
The costs dont justify the benefits. For Sony anyway. I am guessing setting up a dedicated PSN for India would take money. Sony dont feel they can get returns on that money at the moment with the current userbase. But from what I have read the PSN should be heading here sometime soon. Hopefully. Params7
Keep buying PS3's/PSP's officially, the online community needs to keep pestering Sony to open up an Indian store and maybe in 2 years you'll get one!
Noctis
I can understand it the reason for not having a PSN store in India. But then they could have given Indians access to the UK/Euro store or made the DLCs region. That would have worked as well.

It should be ready to shell out some $$$ To maintain its global standards in customer service... To save its reputation Bro, we actually pay more for the product SONY gets better profit % here in INDIA... Human resourse in INDIA is cheaper compared to most part of the world... We have a brilliant IT sector... They should find it easy to get PSN going!!! I m sure with better services SONY can get better user base
Nemo
Sony is evil. They ate my homework, killed my dog and forced me to buy a DS. Believe. u forgot to mention they raped ur kittens and shat on them afterwards. hoping for a PSN for india soon.. DLC's are pain in the @$$ to get atm

Hmmm "buying PS3 officially in INDIA"... with such vast difference in pricing, people prefer importing rather than purchasing it here (officially). Rather than spending millions on research to stop piracy. it would make more sense to have an Uniform pricing (or atleast very closely priced) around the globe. I bet piracy would be wiped this way. Human resourse in INDIA is cheaper compared to most part of the world... We have a brilliant IT sector... They should find it easy to get PSN going!!! The higher costs of the PS3 are because of import duties and Taxes in India, as well as the highly fluctuating value of Indian currency. Sony is not gaining a higher profit % from that. And you don't need cheap labour or a brilliant IT sector to make a PSN store. Its about too few customers, they would be lucky if a thousand Indians purchase from it... while those numbers come in millions in US/Europe/Japan etc.

arun360
Otacon, there are workarounds. You can get almost everything(stuff that matters) by creating multiple accounts in other regions and being part of a PSN sharing group.
lastAvenger
If only DLC's were region free, i don't think we would ever need an Indian PSN. Anyway just create a US PSn account and you can play online easily
