playstation
Mass Effect World ========================================================================================================= Races Asari What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- To add a familiar element of science-Fiction fantasy, we decided on of the main species in MAss Effect would be race of beautiful blue-alien girls. An extensive Explration of the idea led to the asari appearing exotic and alien while still having some human qualities, which allowed them to be desirable as potential love interests. The original inspiration of the scalp tentacles was to evoke image of woman emerging from the water with her hair swept back. Asari clothing was to be alluring and sexy but with a sense of class and style-- more of a Hollywood red-carpet feel than that of a stripper (except fro tthe asari who were,in fact, strippers). Once we extablished the general look of the asari, we examined the fine details, like the scalp tentacles. Turians What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- As Linus Pualing once said," The best way to have a good idea is to have a lot of ideas" We had lot of ideas for alien species! the Writing department came up with an idea for a bird like race, and we ran with it...in many directions. From this, the turiams emerged with avian legs and an eagle-like head with the crest of a plumed bird. They have several decidedly unavian features to keep them alien, lik the carapace that shields them from the radiation on their home planet. Krogan What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- The krogan were designed to be a race perpetually at war. They are obsiouly semi-reptilian but one of their early inspirations was bats. The reference for the Krogan boy was the heavy skin of an Indian rhinoceros. Salarians What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- The Slarains were our version of "gray aliens," but with a nearly concave torso and doglike legs. These unique body features set the guidelines for all the clothing and armor to follow. The Bottom collection represents the steps it took to reach final drawings of the slarain head as well as examples of how one of the variations might show emotion. We do drawings of expression to help us figure out how the aliens will emote using our digital acting system. Quarians What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- All we knew about the Quarians were that they were a scanvenger race that created the geth. When some of the drawings were done, we didnt yet know what the geth actually looked like. The breathing mask and clothing became the enviro-suit. The quarians, having a weak immune system, wont live long outside enviro-suit. Elcor What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- In the early conception phase, anything and everything is possible. Eventually ,modelling and anumations constraints influenced the design. Volus What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- The vlous are another race of aliens that neeed a full-body enviro -suit. Volus are from a planet with high air pressure, and to remove them from their suit anywhere else would cause them to rupture, much like deep-sea fish brought to surface. Some concepts for their specises were relatively large.Ultimately they became round and short, giving them a docile look. Geth What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- The Geth are the most common enemy in the game,so they needed to stand out from the enemies in other science-fiction universes. The head design was first nailed down for the geth armature, and this later became the basis for the geth's head design. The Thorian What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- The thorian was lovingly referred to as the " grostesgue sac" around the office. It developed into a fungal creature that was thousands of years old and able to infect humans with mind -affecting spores and to create clone duplicates of a creature it had absorbed. Rachni What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- Early Concepts for the rachni queen imagined what she would look like captured in a containment tank. We pictured her never bein fully-illuminated-a mysterious figure. Inspiration came from deep sea creatures. Humans What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- We drafted many options for the armor. Originally ,Shephard's armor was red and white, but that made Shephard look too much like a medic rather than a combat-ready marine.Eventually we made the armor charcoal gray and added a red- and -white stripe,as well as the iconic N7 logo. Although Shephard's armor changed with each subsequent game, these elements remained consistent. Clothing concepts for the people of 2183 included designs for miners, prisoners, prostitues, and even colonists wearing hazmat suits.Through standardizing these concepts, we found a common visual language for human characters. Hanar The hanar are a species resembling Earth's jellyfish and are one of the few non-bipedal Citadel races. Drell What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- Early in Developments are given as much freedom as possible. Some drew upon lizards or birds of paradise for inspiration .Later refinement led to a mixture of aquatic and reptilian characteristics. Keepers The keepers are a bio-engineered, insectoid race found only on the Citadel. They are completely docile and harmless, and appear to exist for no other reason than to maintain the Citadel and its systems. The keepers are believed to have been created by the Protheans to serve as caretakers of the station, and have become essential to the Citadel's operation. Very little is known about them, as they do not communicate with other species. Vorcha Known for their unique biology and aggressive behavior, the vorcha are a primitive race that live among the galaxy's darker and more dangerous locations, such as Omega. Many vorcha are trained by the krogan Blood Pack as mercenaries due to their savage nature and adaptability to different environments. The rest of galactic civilization regards them as pests and scavengers, and their presence is generally seen as a blight. Yahg The yahg are a sentient race of towering humanoids native to the world of Parnack, known for their violent and aggressive nature. Consummate predators, the yahg possess unrivaled perceptiveness and mental adaptability. Discovered by the Citadel Council in 2125 CE, the yahg were unceremoniously barred from interaction with Citadel space after massacring the Council's delegation. Batarian A race of four-eyed bipeds native to the world of Khar'shan, the batarians are a disreputable species that chose to isolate itself from the rest of the galaxy. The Terminus Systems are infested with batarian pirate gangs and slaving rings, fueling the stereotype of the batarian thug. It should be noted that these criminals do not represent average citizens, who are forbidden to leave batarian space by their omnipresent and paranoid government. Collectors The Collectors are an enigmatic race that live beyond the Omega 4 Relay, a mass relay within the same system as Omega, in the Terminus Systems. They are rarely seen in Terminus itself, let alone Citadel space, and are generally regarded as a myth by Citadel citizens. Definite sightings of Collectors have been made on Omega every few centuries. Protheans The Protheans are an extinct alien race which mysteriously vanished over 50,000 years ago. The only known space- faring species of their time, the Protheans arose from a single planet and developed an immense galaxy-wide empire. Not much is known about them, but many of their artifacts, ruins and technology have apparently survived the ages. Husk Husks are synthetic "zombies" created from the bodies of organic beings. When a human is captured, they are placed on impaling devices, huge spikes that Alliance marines have nicknamed "dragon's teeth". Over time the body's organs, skin and water content are converted into cybernetic materials; blood is changed to a sickly green fluid, and the body generates an electrical charge. Thresher Maw Thresher Maws are subterranean carnivores that spend their entire lives eating or searching for something to eat. They are enormous, violent creatures that burst up from the ground without warning when disturbed. They reproduce via spores that can lie dormant for millennia and are robust enough to survive prolonged periods in deep space and atmospheric re-entry. As a result, thresher maw spores appear on many worlds, spread by previous generations of space travelers. Varren Varren are omnivores with a preference for living prey. Originally native to the krogan homeworld of Tuchanka, they are—like most life from Tuchanka—savage, clannish, and consummate survivors. They are pack hunters when vulnerable prey is readily available and become scavengers when outnumbered or outclassed. Their supreme adaptability, vicious demeanor and rapid breeding cycle have made them ubiquitous and dangerous pests on many worlds. Gas Bags Gas Bags are a species of benign non-sentient creatures native to the planet Eden Prime. These odd animals have a number of protuberant gas-filled sacs growing out of their core body structure. These pods allow the creature to float gently along from place to place. Dangling from their underbellies are four legs and four rear tendrils, each varying in length. It can be assumed that these tentacles are used to catch prey in shallow swamps and ponds where they congregate in groups. Its front can be designated by the neckless head attached to the main body of the animal; it has no visible mouth, so a means of consumption is still unknown. It does, however, have five red eyes, three large ones and two smaller ones above. Extremely delicate, gas bags will explode if any one of their numerous pods are punctured. Harvestors Harvesters are huge insectoid-reptile creatures that inhabit several worlds throughout the galaxy, including Tuchanka and Tarith. Harvesters are intimidating to say the least. They are nearly a third of the size of a Thresher Maw and equally as aggressive, their primary means of attack appears to be flying low and "dropping" klixen. This could mean that harvesters either birth klixen or simply pick them up and relocate them. Either way suggests a rather fiendish intelligence; the harvesters are smart enough to use klixen both as shock troops and, failing that, mobile ordnance. Klixen The klixen are an insectoid species resembling crabs or beetles that are encountered in Mass Effect 2. They bear a resemblance to the rachni but are clearly a different species. Little else is known about them. Klixen are usually—if not always—found with larger flying creatures called harvesters. Klixen do not appear to use weapons, and are likely not sentient. They have fire breathing capabilities and explode violently when killed, causing splash damage. They are found on the krogan homeworld Tuchanka and a few exploration sites as enemies. Pod Crabs Pod Crabs are a mostly benign species of non-sentient creatures native to the planet Virmire. These massive grey flat-headed crustacean-like creatures walk on four sturdy arms, each ending in hard points (possibly used to impale prey found in the shallow beaches and estuaries along the coasts; it is known that they feed on large mollusk-like creatures). Pyjaks Pyjaks, sometimes referred to as "space monkeys", are a primitive species found on several planets. Space Beetle A species which can be found on the planet Ontarom and are likely being studied as part of the careful cataloging of Ontarom's native life. There are larger beetles and smaller ones that may be juveniles. Space Cow Space Cows are oxygen-breathing herbivores with four legs and two small arm-like forelimbs. They are unofficially named "Space Cows" after the Shifty Looking Cow found on Ontarom. Reapers What The Art of Mass Effect says about them :- For the Third game we decided to make a smaller version of a Reaper that could land on planets and actually do battle with shepard. It may not look it,but this destroyer is only about 160 meters in the game compared to two kilometers for Sovereign. The original shape for Sovereign was based on a leaf insect nymph, which give these Reapers their distinctive silhouette. =====================================================================================================

Appearance wise, Legion presented an opportunity to develop the basic geth design by adding moving parts that allowed it to animate with detailed expressions.
