  1. Skybound Games, which is the extension company of Skybound Entertainment - the firm which actually publishes the original Walking Dead comics, have stepped in to complete Telltale's The Walking Dead - The Final Season. It seems the original creator of the Walking Dead world as a whole (i.e. the original Walking Dead Comics), Robert Kirkman has taken an interest in the series, and wants to ensure that the story gets a proper closure. In his own words "We can't lose Rick and Clem in the same year" (referring to lead actor Andrew Lincoln's departure from the TWD TV Show). Skybound Games have already reached a deal with Telltale Games that will allow them to continue The Walking Dead: Final Season game. 2. Sources: Telltale Games Shutting Down, The Wolf Among Us 2 and Stranger Things Canceled Telltale Games is closing its doors for good according to multiple reports online. Telltale employees are also posting on social media that they are no longer employed with the company. An anonymous source familiar with the situation has told USgamer that Telltale's closure was going to be complete. In 2017, Telltale Games laid off 90 employees in a restructuring of the company following years of mismanagement. In our report following the layoffs, sources told us that following The Walking Dead Telltale suffered from a constant culture of crunch that pushed employees to release games as quickly as possible. In addition to overbearing management teams that oftentimes meddled in projects, the Telltale Tool proprietary engine was prone to bugs, making development even more difficult. Telltale is currently in the middle of The Walking Dead Final Season and have previously announced a second season of The Wolf Among Us and a game based on the Netflix hit series Stranger Things. An anonymous source familiar with the company told USgamer that a skeleton crew will work to finish The Walking Dead Final Season while The Wolf Among Us Season 2 and Stranger Things are effectively cancelled. The Verge is reporting that 25 employees will stay on board, presumably as part of the skeleton crew. ----- Source: https://www.usgamer.net/articles/report-telltale-games-shutting-down-the-wolf-among-us-2-and-stranger-things-canceled ----- Massively shocked by this. Wonder what went so horribly wrong. ☹️☹️☹️ P.S.: Since this is a developing story, mods please feel free to update the thread title or OP accordingly.
  3. OVERKILL'S The Walking Dead; New Information About Characters, Platforms, Development And More A new Walking Dead game is under development and it is not a Telltale game. Starbreeze Studios and Overkill, the developers of the widely popular criminal heist game ‘Payday’ have joined forces with Skybound and 505 Games to bring the new post-apocalyptic zombie first-person-shooter, OVERKILL’s The Walking Dead. I tried contacting the developers with a bunch of questions related to the gameplay, microtransactions and online mechanics to settle my curiosity, but sadly there was no response. However, Comics Beat did get a few questions answered. In the interview with Comics Beat, Executive Producer Saul Gascon revealed quite a few details about the upcoming Walking Dead, its development, gameplay and the universe. Let’s dive right in.
