World of Goo

Developed by: 2D Boy

Genre: Puzzle

At the core, it's a fun bridge building game. Connect blobs of goo to build structures across the map. A simple concept.

The execution is something you need to see for yourselves. Artwork, music, levels are impressive. A+.

Do check it out. This is an indie game with no copy protection. You could choose to pay the $15, if you like.

You can get the demo (and buy the full game) from there. Its also available on steam or wiiware. This game is undoubtably my fav pc game right now. The challenges keep getting harder and harder and actually need a lot of thinking as they get more complex. the difficulty curve is fantastic. it never seems like its getting too hard too fast and neither does it feel like the gameplay gets stale. Its just perfect. If you guys have a pc or a wii... BUY THIS GAME NOW. Although i'd suggest you try the demo first. its not everyones cup of tea... but in my case its pure awesomeness

World of Goo Trailer

(WiiWare supports up to 4 players in a "pick up 'n' play" co-op mode. The PC version has online leaderboards for each individual level. Other than that, they're the same.)

FAQ

There's a downloadable Profanity Pack. LOL.

A lesser known fact is that this game was made by 2 people. Yes.... you heard that right. 2. An artist and a programmer. Thats it. So any flaws in the game are negligible when you consider the fact that it was made by just the 2 of them lol.

In fact.... its incredible what they achieved.

My brain hurts lol. The game gets incredibly hard by the 3rd world. then again i still love it :3

I know, I just finished the 1st world (Chapter 1) after spending an agonizingly fun half hour on the last level.

You're right about the difficulty curve. The game doesn't treat you like an idiot and keeps throwing up a challenge after the other, slightly harder than the previous one and the skills acquired on previous levels come in handy.

The art direction is amazing. You finish a level, the goo balls fill up a transparent container while the camera zooms out and fades your structure in the background which dangerously shakes or collapses obeying all laws of physics. And I'm in love with the catchy loopy music.

Will start Chapter 2 soon. Never been this satisfied with a PC game in a long time.

The demo includes the entire first world. thats 1/5th of the game. then again the puzzles in the first world are tame compared to the awesomeness that is world 4 ;) still...... its waaaaaay more than a demo usually gives. and should give you atleast 1-2 hours of fun.
