HDMI No signal when connected PS3

I have 22" LG flatron monitor with DVI & VGA port. I have connected it with PS3 thru HDMI to DVI cable and playing without an issue.

Then one day I used the cable to connect the monitor to my laptop. It was working fine but when I reconnected it to PS3, all I got was a Black screen!

I thought may be the cable is at fault but when I connected my laptop it was working fine. I found no solution throughout the internet & also on IVG, eventhough this problem appears to be everywhre.

So I decided to buy a new HDMI to DVI connector and tried them yesterday. this time I also connected AV cable along. The PS3 did detect the HDMI but even if I choose to use HDMI, my monitor shows NO SIGNAL error.

I reset the display settings of ps3 by holding power button like million times

See how many I found on IVG itself, weird thing is nobody got any solution!! they either replaced ps3 or disappeared...

Try the following thing:

disconnect ps3 and monitor

turn on ps3 and monitor separately

when both are running, connect the cable

see if it works

Someone help this guy.

Tried, screen momentorily changed to black and again to no signal...

i dont think the prob to be in ps3 hdmi port, coz if i connect AV, i cud see it did detect hdmi...

My monitor has DVI & VGA ports. I ve bn trying on hdmi to dvi with 3 different cables...on one cable screen turn black, other 2- no signal. btw all 3 r new ones bought frm ebay!!

Is ps3 HDMI to VGA possible?

try connecting to another tv using hdmi cable or friends monitor if you have. i had same issue when i bought new ps3 after trying 3 diff cable i bought official one and it worked in first try. ps3 is very picky when it comes to display cable!

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks for the ppl who spared their time to reply.

I feel IVG now is more of a Sale/Trade place rather than what it meant to be before, gamers for the gamers.

Anyways, I seemed to solve it on my own, I wud like to explain what I did.

For HDMI to DVI, there are 2 issues that arise, (I assume the ps3 works well with other HDTVs)

1. Black screen - in this case the cable is at fault. Faulty cable here means It will work with all other damn things in the world except ps3!!!

2. No Signal Screen - in this case the signal from HDMI port of ps3 to DVI port of monitor seems to die in between. 3 things can be at fault in this. Monitor's DVI port, Adapters used in between or the cable.

Solution:

For both the problems above, the cable needs to be changed. And the most important thing is GET A HDMI TO DVI "CABLE" (One end HDMI and another end DVI). It should be a single cable without any connections or adapters in between.

Do not go for "HDMI cable + DVI converter" or "DVI cable + HDMI Converter". Especially if u r facing Problem No:2

But if this 'cable' solution doesnt solve the issue, the best thing is to get the following,

1. http://www.ebay.in/itm/261132860719?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 (DVI-I Dual Link female to HDMI Male Adapter Converter Coupler 24 + 5 pin)

2. http://www.ebay.in/itm/161193762632?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 (24+1 PINS DVI-D DUAL LINK TO HDMI FEMALE CONNECTOR)

3. A HDMI Cable (HDMI at both ends)

4. A DVI cable (DVI at both ends)

then just play with all the permutations and combinations of these 4 things. Till u get a display.

Thanks.
