SchizoidFreud
Developer(s) - Red Storm Entertainment Publisher(s) - Ubisoft Engine - YETI Engine Release date(s) - September, 2007 Genre(s) - Tactical shooter Mode(s) - Single player, Multiplayer Rating(s) - ESRB: Teen (T) Platform(s) - Xbox 360 Media - DVD-DL Input - Gamepad FURTHER INFO : Master Chief has some competition in the form of true blue U.S. soldiers. Red Storm, the team behind Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, is set to bring America's Army: True Soldiers exclusively to Xbox 360 this September. True Soldiers, officially sponsored by the U.S. Army, brings the popular series to the next-generation of consoles. True Soldiers runs on the GRAW 2 engine and features a number of improvements on previous America's Army titles. You'll be able to build your soldier in single-player, choosing one of five roles (Rifleman, Grenadier, Automatic Rifleman and Sniper). You can then take those skills and bring the heat online in any of eight maps developed by Red Storm under the guidance of the U.S. Army. A reward system for honorable actions is also in place with the Play-Lead-Recruit feature, to encourage gamers to act like real soldiers. Add to this the latest in high-tech equipment and weaponry and you have the most authentic Army experience a civilian could imagine. We spoke with Randy Greenback, Creative Director on America's Army: True Soldiers, about Red Storm's latest military assignment. Greenback disclosed considerable intel on True Soldiers, including adversarial multiplayer details and 16-player online co-op. Yes, you read that right. At attention, soldier! Here's everything you need to know about America's Army. IGN: Why make the next America's Army game exclusive to Xbox 360? Randy Greenback: There were a couple key factors that led us to the decision to go out on the Xbox 360. First and foremost our experience level on the 360 is much higher, having gone through the development of GRAW and GRAW2 multiplayer. The second factor is that the installed base is much larger, which translates to a greater opportunity for a wider audience to experience the game. GN: What refinements are being made to the gameplay in relation to America's Army: Rise of a Soldier? Greenback: Team play is definitely going to be the focus of the title! Players will be rewarded and perform more effectively if they play together as a Fire-Team, practicing and developing their own SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) for any given situation. Multiplayer games are going to come down to what team has employed the best overall team strategies over the course of a match. AA: TS tracks what players are on each Fire-Team and encourages them to work together with their specific team members. Every Fire-Team has a team leader and the Alpha Team Leader is the Squad Leader. Squad Leaders play an important part in the battle, passing orders to the Fire-Team Leaders which in turn then communicate down to their teams. Squad Leaders can turn a losing situation into a victory by calling in well-timed and accurate Artillery Strikes on enemy locations. Once the smoke clears, it is up to them to work with the other Fire-Teams to come up with a plan of attack to push the enemy back to their base. MarketTantrik
Xbox 360 America's Army demo now available From Ars Technica http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars...o-now-avaliable ________________________________________________________________ Those looking for a more realistic shooter during the holiday season need look no further than America's Army: True Soliders, the Xbox 360 realization of the popular sim-shooter franchise. A 525 MB demo of the GRAW 2 engine-powered title has now been made available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Though the PC version has been traditionally available for free, the Xbox 360 version features the standard Xbox 360 features: leaderboards, achievements, and some bonus video and artwork. The online multiplayer community, which has been a staple of the series, will also feature some contests as a result of the newly-added honor token system which allows gamers to win real-life prizes for earning tokens as a result of good teamwork. We played the near-complete build at PAX this year, and despite the presence of a controller, the game was still true to its PC roots. The almost realism from the original returns, and one-shot kills and compromised objectives will plague those who rush out like Rambo. Whether you agree with the core principles of the game or not, though, is an entirely different question. America's Army: True Soliders ships for the Xbox 360 on November 15, 2007. ________________________________________________________________

KnackChap
ign review 4.0 Presentation The menu design was clearly copied from GRAW, which is to say that it's very unintuitive. Nothing here will connect you to any of the characters or the army. 5.0 Graphics Environments are poorly textured and designed. Character models don’t fare much better. Slight framerate issues and poor lighting round things out. Explosions actually aren’t half-bad. 4.5 Sound The voice acting is laughable and the weapon effects leave plenty to be desired. The main theme does sound somewhat patriotic. 3.0 Gameplay The customization is decent. Once you start firing your weapon and moving around is when you’ll want your money back. 4.5 Lasting Appeal The online offering has plenty of modes, even if the solo play is lacking. Building up your character will take some time, supposing you can stomach it. 3.7 Bad OVERALL (out of 10 / not an average)
MarketTantrik
^^ How badly can you screw up a shooter ?
ctrl_alt_del
Apparently this game has managed to do just that and then some. I was in and out of the demo in 10 minutes flat. I remember having tonnes of fun with AA for the PC a couple of years back. This iteration of the game sorely disappointed me.
MarketTantrik
^^ Yeah. Even Nash was pretty downbeat about this game. I did enjoy AA on the PC for about a year but the lure of UT 2004 was too strong.
