Ubisoft today announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots, the latest in its best-selling squad-based military shooter franchise. If you’ve enjoyed the disjointed single-player campaigns of the Call of Duty games, where you played from the perspectives of multiple characters, then the storyline of Patriots may be right up your alley.
The game aims to capture “the reality of modern-day terrorism”, but rather than shipping you off to the Middle East, it deals with an American extremist terror group called the True Patriots. As part of Team Rainbow, it’s up to you and your squad to keep the terrorist threat at bay.
Aside from the new direction for the single-player campaign, R6 Patriots will also feature “a huge variety” of new co-op and multi-player modes, although details about these are yet to be revealed.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots is scheduled for release for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2013.
