lastAvenger
The PSP Homebrew Thread has been created with an intention of keeping all the homebrew news and any kind of discussion within this thread. As of now Dark ALex has confessed that he is Team M33. Team M33 has released v3.71 custom firmware for PSP which can be downloaded from here. vinitwins
when i was actively gaming on my psp, there was some very nice compatibility threads that i used to refer to (including some excel-html web pages). but those were the days when there were multiple loaders and homebrew hackers were struggling to make FW2.0 games run properly. so i suggest you post some links to some relevant compatibility charts (if they are applicable nowadays) V ps: my psp now runs 3.4oe (or something) and the last game i played was BLC

Kazekage Gaara
i have a 3.40 custom firmware .can i straight away upgrade it to 3.71 through this link Yes you can but beware, 3.71 M33 CFW doesn't have 1.50 Kernel support, so you won't be able to play homebrew on your fat PSP, not until Dark Alex releases a 1.50 kernel add-on for 3.71 M33 but that would only be for fat PSPs as Sony has "hardware-blacklisted" the 1.50 kernel on slim PSPs because of which no homebrew works on Slims. vinitwins
so whats the best FW to use at the moment on a psp1k - something that allows you maximum *ahem* 'homebrew' compatibility? V

V 3.52 M33-4 hands down Edit: Reason being the hacked Sony's ISO loader with 100% No-UMD Compatibility and of course better compatibility for PSone games

Actually I tihnk you can run homebrew on the Slims Wikipedia says On September 10, 2007 Team M33 released custom firmware 3.60 M33 for the PSP Slim. It was released after the NAND of the PSP Slim was dumped. Due to incompatibilities with the new motherboard, 3.60 M33 does not contain a 1.50 kernel and thus cannot run homebrew written for 1.50. Currently it can only run homebrew made for the 3.60 kernel but Team M33 stated they would make it compatible with 2.xx kernel homebrew in the near future. 3.60 M33 is installed by using a modified version of Pandora's Battery. Special files are written to the "magic" memory stick that is used in conjunction with the battery. I have a PSP Slim but somehow im just too scared to tamper with it. Kazekage Gaara
Actually I tihnk you can run homebrew on the Slims Yes you can run homebrew, but not all (approx 75% of it). I forgot to mention this but homebrew that is only 1.50 compatible will NOT run on the slim as it doesn't support 1.50 kernel anymore. Other homebrew that are compatible with 2.XX will run, and it was also stated by M33 that its not much of a hassle for homebrew developers to make their programs 2.XX compatible. So you can say, its just a matter of time I have a PSP Slim but somehow im just too scared to tamper with it. Have you downgraded it ? If you are careful enough and do exactly how its written in the readme files and follow the instructions properly, you won't have any problems downgrading your slim. But as of now, you need a homebrew-enabled (downgraded) fat PSP to do that. See if any of your friends have a downgraded PSP. Then you can go ahead with the downgrade process If you're just too scared, then your only option is to get it downgraded from your nearby local gray market area. They might charge you anywhere from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2000, it depends upon person to person I downgraded my slim myself, and its working just fine Am gonna upgrade this baby to 3.71 M33 pretty soon

Fire Wolf
I have the older PSP on firmware 3.03. Is there a safe way through which I can install custom firmware on my PSP myself? Kazekage Gaara
More RAM, faster loading times, AV-out, IR port removed, some design changes, like 8% lighter, better umd mechanism etc etc lol All of that and I would say its more than 8% lighter Its so GODDAMN light that you will be shocked. I know I was literally shocked and had to make sure that thing was actually real and not a fake piece of sh*t Also, the D pad has been improved and so have been the buttons. They have been raised quite a lot. Also, the analog stick is more responsive. I have the older PSP on firmware 3.03. Is there a safe way through which I can install custom firmware on my PSP myself? (Without having to download something large too) Well, since you're on an official Sony firmware and are already above v2.80, then you'll have to use the pandora software to downgrade your PSP. You'll require a homebrew-enabled fat PSP. See if you can borrow one from a friend
Fire Wolf
Thanks for the response. A guy I know does have custom firmware on his PSP. I reckon I could try and get his PSP, but what exactly would I have to do? Will I have to download anything large?
Kazekage Gaara
Thanks for the response. A guy I know does have custom firmware on his PSP. I reckon I could try and get his PSP, but what exactly would I have to do? Will I have to download anything large? First of all, I'll have to say this... Terms and Conditions As with any PSP operation that involves flashing, there is some risk involved. You accept full responsibility for your actions. I, nor QJ, nor IndianVideoGamer, nor the developers of this hack are in any way responsible if something goes wrong with your PSP. Edit - You can always UNBRICK your PSP using the pandora's battery if you screw up. If you agree with this, then we can go ahead And Yes, you'll have to download "something large" You'll have to download... 1. Pandora's battery (200 KB) 2. 1.50 Sony Update (13.22 MB) 3. 3.52 M33 (240 KB) 4. 3.52 Sony Update (20.6 MB) So in total, thats approx 35 MB that you'll need to download. First step would be to create a pandora's battery. Use the following guide to do it. [Guide] Unbrick or Downgrade any PSP using the Pandora Battery Once you have the pandora's battery, use it to downgrade your PSP to 1.50. Once you're there, use the guide below to UPGRADE your PSP to a 3.52 M33 custom firmware [GUIDE] Installing 3.60M33/3.52M33 Custom Firmwares. Just make sure you read the guide properly and follow it step by step. If you run into any trouble, post here, and I'll do my best to help you out

Kazekage Gaara
I forgot to mention, even if you screw up and brick your fat PSP, you can always UNBRICK it using the pandora's battery, so there is very less risk involved There is a considerable amount of risk involved in downgrading a Slim coz as of now, there is NO SLIM UNBRICKER.
