I gifted $150,000 (50k + 100k) each to Django and meharjas... I'll do the same to Sachin when he gets his city up and running.

I also placed a dept. of safety, and dept. of education in my city, so you should be able to build a university and high school too. :good:

@django... You don't need two different Oil Drills. You could've just built one, and then added drills to that, by 'edit'ing it. I think you can have like 7-8 drills per facility.

Also, tweak your taxes. I think you have 9% tax for all industrial, and mixed 11% and 10% for residential and commercial. Use the taxes to restrict your city to whichever kind of population you want in your city. Some key points:

1. More Low wealth people fit in a building than High-wealth. I don't remember the exact numbers, but (never mind. Found the link)for example, a High Density Low wealth building will have space for 600 low-wealth sims, but a High Density High Wealth building will have space only for 100 High-wealth sims.

2. High wealth sims have more demands than lower wealth ones. Like they'd want an airport, and they won't travel on buses and streetcars.

3. Low-wealth industries produce more pollution than higher-wealth ones.

4. If you have High wealth Commercial, and don't have High-wealth residential, they'll keep complaining about 'no shoppers'. I think that's the problem you're having.

etc.

So, plan your taxes based on which kind of sims you'd like in your city.

After I get to a certain population and medium wealth sims are moving in, what I do is, raise taxes for low RCI, and high RCI, and reduce the medium RCI i.e., increase taxes for Residential, Commercial and Industrial of Low and High wealth sims, while reducing the medium ones. Currently, I have my taxes as 12% for Low and High RCI, and 9% for Medium RCI. So, now, I have mostly medium wealth sims except for a couple of high wealth ones who keep complaining about the taxes

 again bhaiya thnx for the 50k :D ......+nice tips and info bhiaya mai bhi dekhtha hu kaise sims hai mere ...i am sure this would help me too so thnx again :)

:scratchchin: I think I sent you another 100k after I messaged you on Origin. You should've gotten a total of 150k.

Praveen :O 150000 $

I still haven't understood the concept of maintaining density. Will get there with time

:giggle: No biggie. I made quite a bit of money from the oil and plastic, so if I can help your cities grow, it'll be better for the whole region

The density isn't really too confusing.

The roads determine the 'density' of the buildings that are built on it. The higher the 'density', the more the number of sims that will live in that building. If you build a medium density road, the buildings attached to it, will grow upto a medium density building size.

You probably understand the general concept of the densities fine, but the game does play kinda weirdly, so it gets confusing. In this game, you basically have to make your sims happy to increase density.

If you have $$ parks near a particular road, the area around that park will be more desirable to the $$ sims. So, they'll build $$ houses. If the road is a low-density road, $$ sims will build a low-density house next that road/park. Once you upgrade that road to Medium density, if the area is still very desirable, more $$ sims will move into that house and once it reaches a certain population, they'll upgrade to a small apartment (medium-density) building. If you upgrade the same road to a High-density road now, more $$ sims will move in, and then the building will get upgraded to a High-density skyscraper holding a ton of $$ sims. This is all assuming that they have enough space to expand, and that you have enough parks.

I hope that helps.

^^ Haha... no prob.

I might have quite a bit of excess electricity available too, so use it if you need it. (you click on the region view, and then click on the electricity tab at the bottom, and click buy).

Also, guys... please make sure you are checking on your water levels. @Django... Last I checked, I think the water under your water towers is already drying up, so make sure you plan properly. Place your water tower/pump next to a sewage treatment plant to have unlimited water supply. The sewage treatment plant treats the sewage and converts it into ground water. The water is then used by the pumping station.

i havent started playing in region coz i want to make less mistakes there so playing single player now and learning as much as possible

will start building in region from next week

i checked ur city and i did not understand why u havent increased ur road density to high yet ?

i have a question, i know if we build $$$ park then nearby land value increase to high and it attracts high wealth sims. If high wealth sims starts living there after that can we destroy this parks ?

Yeah, but it's ok. The game is really not that hard, except when it comes to some of the bugs. So, start building in the region when you're comfortable with the game. :good:

Yeah... I only increased the density wherever I needed to. :) Some roads don't have any buildings on them, and have very little traffic, so I didn't bother increasing the density. Some roads, I didn't increase the density on purpose, because I wanted to control the traffic by reducing the number of streetlights for the main roads. None (except maybe one) of the roads that intersect the main avenue are high density roads. This is to make sure that the traffic going in an out of my city is not obstructed. This is important coz I need to make sure that my delivery trucks travel freely.

I increased the density of most of the roads that have buildings next to them (if they need to upgrade).

i have a question, i know if we build $$$ park then nearby land value increase to high and it attracts high wealth sims. If high wealth sims starts living there after that can we destroy this parks ?

I'm not entirely sure about this, but this is how I think the land value/density works:

Forget about the low, medium and high wealth sims for one second. Placing any park ($, $$ or $$$) in any place, increases the land value in that area. If your land value increases, sims are more likely to move into that place. As more sims move into buildings in that area, if there's space around the building, the buildings will be upgraded to higher density ones (like houses->small apts->skyscrapers). This is all regardless of which wealth class ($, $$ or $$$) they are in. :chucks:

Now, if you build a $ park in an area, only $ sims will use that park, not $$ and $$$. So, more $ sims will move into that area. Once the land value of that area is sufficiently high, assuming there's enough space to expand, the building/house will upgrade to a larger building that can house more $ sims. More $ sims will move into that building. This goes on until you reach the building reaches the level of a High-density $ building. A high-density $ building means that it contains a ton of $ sims.

The above rules apply to $$ and $$$ sims/buildings/parks too.

Again, I'm not sure if that's exactly how it works :fear: , but in my experience, planning like this has helped me. Also, play around with the taxes to limit who ($, $$ or $$$) moves into your city.

p.s: It seems like the Mayor mansion increases land value for $$$ sims. The area around the Mayor mansion is the only place where I keep getting $$$ buildings, only for them to complain about high taxes before leaving.

How I started building my city:

I built one main medium-avenue from the highway to around half the map, to make sure that my oil delivery is unobstructed. I then built only dirt roads in the city, connecting all services and buildings. I then had to keep taking the bonds to make sure that I could expand at a good pace. The bonds are really not too expensive, and they do help you build your city quicker.

How I currently have my city:

I placed only $$ parks all around the city. I only upgraded roads that have buildings on them that needed me to upgrade my roads. I reduced the number of intersections (by building T-junctions) to main Avenue to ensure free flow in and out of the city. No road/street that intersects with the main Avenue is high-density (at least as far as i know). I didn't build a bus terminal because it's kinda broken now, and if I did, it'll flood all your cities with my buses.

I have one Police precinct in the middle of the city, and another one at an area where the crime was pretty high. I have one Large Fire Station. I also have one Clinic and one Hospital covering most of the city.

I have a water pumping station right next to my sewage treatment plant, to make sure that I have an infinite water supply. I also have a nuclear plant which drinks a ton of water.

edit: added a few smileys coz it looked too bland :P

^^ Not really announcements, but yeah, the devs have tweeted multiple times that they are working on fixing many of the issues, including changes to how the simulation works, bigger maps, and balancing the ploppables and resources.

started game after 4-5 days of absence and there was one update

anyone noticed any major improvement after this ?

It doesn't look like there's any major update to the game. The official forums show that the last update is 1.8, which was from a couple of weeks ago. I haven't played the game in a week, so I can't comment on any changes.

Hi everyone – I wanted to give you a quick update about the state of SimCity and what the development team here at Maxis has been focused on in the last week. The good news is that we are seeing so many of you playing the game. Mayors have spent more than 33 centuries worth of time playing the game and enough road has been laid to circumnavigate the earth over 5000 times. Each day, we have more than three quarters of a million active cities being played.

We’ve been heads down addressing the key issues we’re seeing reported from our community. This includes city rollbacks, lost progress, and the return of features like Cheetah Speed and Leaderboards. Like you, we want all of these resolved ASAP, which is why they are the top priorities in our studio. Matter of fact, we have all of these in a QA environment, giving them a thorough test before we release them back to you, the fans.

On top of this, we’re also working on a number of bug fixes and other overall improvements that we’re planning to include in future Updates. Just last week we released two Updates (1.7 and 1.8), which included traffic fixes and other general improvements. For the future, in Update 2.0, we’ll be addressing the Recycling Center bug, fixing the fire engine clumping, improving the efficiency of Street Cars, and increasing the radius of river water. We’re also fixing the tuning on Casinos and are making them more profitable. These are just a handful of the substantial changes coming in Update 2.0.

Keep in mind, if you don’t see a particular fix present in an Update, this doesn’t mean we’re not working on it, or we’re not aware of it. Our team is constantly getting reports about the top issues being raised and this is helping us prioritize what we need to address. There are some issues that are more challenging and will take more time. If you have feedback, please visit our forums. In the meantime, we’ll continue to address the top issues in our updates. We’ll keep working while you’re playing.

Thanks for sticking with us. We hope this gives you a better idea of what we’ve been working on. Now back to work!

One way I found, to save space, is just to have like 2 garbage dumps in my Garbage center along with an incinerator. I have a population of 200k, and I'm managing fine with these two. Every time I get an alert telling me that my dump is getting full, I just delete one of the dumps and replace it with a new one. I know this adds to ground pollution, but I just add a bunch of trees on the dump, so I don't have any added ground pollution. I've done this at least a dozen times, and I have no problem with ground pollution in that area.

In other news, they've enabled Cheetah speed on our server Europe West 6 :wOOtjumpy:
