Officially Confirmed title is Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams and the trailer shows a grown up little sister holding a big daddy plush toy, while sand of buildings in Rapture rise from the sand. It's set on the Atlantic Coast.

Bioshock may be officially out on PlayStation 3 tomorrow, but it seems some people have picked up the game already, and have even finished it. As a reward for finishing the game it seems these people have got access to the very first Bioshock 2 trailer, which now boasts the name Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams.

I'm still not sure if another BioShock is a good idea to begin with. BioShock was a great standalone story and should have stayed that way. A sequel/prequel will only make it cheap. Unless of course, the plot is something that totally blows me away...

BioShock 2 is both a prequel and a sequel

As we are still waiting to get our hands on the PS3 version of Bioshock, yesterday morning we took watch as someone published a video on youtube showing the teaser trailer for Bioshock 2, which is only in the PS3 version of the game. At the end of the trailer it showed the new title for Bioshock 2, which was simply entitled Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams. Even if many of us don’t know no what to expect from this game, we can still stop and wonder whether this game will be a sequel to Bioshock or a prequel.

According to WhatIfGaming, 2K Marin has decided to revealed some very basic information on the upcoming game. 2K developer, Charles Schechbeck, said this sequel is also part prequel.

“BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams is part of a prequel and at the same time is a sequel, so you’re kind of close on the interpretation of the trailer. The rising replica of Rapture can represent something to do with this or something part of a bigger surprise that everyone has to wait and see to play.”

I know exactly what Rahul means. I had to skip out on Counter-Strike 1.6 for the lack of a single-player ;D

Why should anyone mind about there being another BioShock, especially when System Shock too received another sequel. And that ended up being better than the first game. I say, bring on the absurbly high-production values and marketing hype-train!

BioShock 2 Destined for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360

The new teaser trailer for BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams may have many questioning just what 2K Marin has in store for us with such archaic imagery. What or whom survived the last round in Rapture remains to be seen, but what we do know, thanks to a recent quote from 2K representative Charlie Sinhaseni on GameSpot, is that the game is "destined" for the PlayStation 3, Windows-based PCs, and the Xbox 360.

While a psychic barnyard animal could have predicted that, what we are still unsure of is if each port of the game will be released simultaneously or not. Hopefully, this time around that will be the case so PS3 users will not have to once again wait a whole painful year to get the game on their system.

When BioShock 2 was officially announced back in March, Take-Two stated that not only would Ken Levine be involved in some capacity but also that the game would be released sometime during the company's Q4 fiscal year, which means we can hopefully expect it to hit between August and October 2009.

Granted, that is over a year away and a lot can happen between now and then, but let's keep our fingers crossed that this time around everyone will be able venture back into Rapture on the same day. In the meantime, just keep your eyes glued to news.1UP.com for a more official announcement.
