SchizoidFreud
Okay, so I used our handy Search tool and couldn't find any thread dedicated to the Orange Box. So well, here it is! Say what you might say but the Half-Life series is the definitive FPS series and Valve keeps making it better! Although I have HL2 and Episode One for the PC, I'm still going to get the Orange Box for the 360 because it's an awesome deal! And besides the stupid Steam authentication crap in HL2 (PC) almost ruined it for me. Anyway, here's an HL2:Episode Two Q&A with Valve... http://www.gamespot.com/pages/gamespace/up...amp;tag=nl.e579 The drivable Hotrod sounds great! MarketTantrik
TF2 Soldier video splits sides (with rockets) [gt]23881[/gt] Remember the Team Fortress 2 video featuring the Heavy? You know, "I am Heavy Weapons Guy," and "WHO TOUCHED MY GUN?!" and all that? Well, we're hesitant to say it, but we think this video tops it. Something like Patton with a little extra derangement sprinkled on top, the video features the Soldier class as he explains to the troops the very invention of war. Apparently it involves Sun Tzu and the collection of animals. In short, the video is comedy gold and should not be missed. Watch it now or forever be an outcast in gaming circles. Now where the hell is our Orange Box damn it? ________________________________________________ Oh f**k !!! This video is ROFLMAO howlarious. Must Watch !! IMBender
Actually, the one game that REALLY interests me is Portal, considering I had so much fun with Narbacular Drop. And considering this is touted to sport team-based runthroughs, yippee! Yeah, we've all been waiting for TF2, considering we still keep playing TFC as much as we can, but the real star here is going to be EP2. Considering the cliffhanger with which EP1 ended, and seeing all the videos of the White Forest and the Antlion nests, this is going to be one helluva fight we'll bring against the Combine. Can't wait to see what happens to Alyx, the significance of the Breen-Pod in the EP1 "Red Room" and of course, now with the transmission going out and Eli saying this is the 7 Hour way all over again, I can't wait, considering we all missed seeing the first Portal Storm. How I wish Valve returns with Adrian Shepard to let us see the first Portal Storm and the Combine invasion.
KnackChap
PSU: What is the primary advantage with the technologies for next-gen? Are there differences between the 360 and PS3 that you found aided you in the game? Valve: We defintiely feel next-gen technology aided truly in our development process. You know---you have complexer AI, you have more characters to work with, an enhanced ability to work with the animations on a higher scale--all that stuff. The only difference between the 360 and PS3--which both as a collective helped us develop The Orange Box is definitely there. For the 360 version of the game, we can probably say we are using around 93-94% of the console's power given our current optimization. With the PS3, we can't exactly say what power cap we reached, since no developer really knows where the boundary is for the PS3. We can tell you that in terms of the whole game together on the PS3, we are not even using the SPU's and it is purely built on the graphics card and Cell. We're still optimizing for PS3 more because we can, which can explain the slight delay to you. But no worries, everything is going smoothly to put down any rumors. MarketTantrik
This means that Episode 2 is gonna suck on the PS3. They really dont even want to try to optimise it for the Cell. I guess I know which version I'll be getting...... PC of course !!
Ne0
^^ U hit it right on the head, from what i heard so far, half life sucked on consoles....i think half-life 2 was released on xbox as well and sucked BIG time, with highly inconvinient controls....I wonder how can u kill those springing headcrabs with your analog sticks ? BTW, have they released the PC requirements ?
IMBender
PC requirements have not yet been released, but it should be safe to assume that it should run on pretty much anything EP1 ran on, with recommended system requirements going to an Intel Core 2 Duo and a DX10 card, considering they have the new particle effects systems (the one that's the NEW benchmarking standard) going into the game, not to mention the other SM3.0 goodness (Thank god for SM2.0 pathway backcompat!) as well. Still can't forget that shot of the smoldering ruins of the Citadel and City 17. That looks GORGEOUS! Definitely PC for me. MAY consider buying the 360 version IF its good, if only for multiplayer on LIVE. Still would love to run through HL2/EP1/EP2 in co-op with GMod! Whee, what fun! Ne0
^^ aw thats bad, cant upgrade my PC to core duo now .... But SM 3.0 was supported in Directx 9.0c itself, I believe. Anyway, if it gives me atleats 25-30 FPS on low/medium settings with my 6600 card I'm happy, I'm more curious to know what happens rather than enjoy the gfx....didnt play eppy 1 as well, maybe need to play that before this comes out....yeah, PC gaming is back baby ! MarketTantrik
Aaahh ! Thats what I'm gonna miss on the PC. Achievements. I really tried hard to ignore them, but there's something addictive about hearing that sound and seeing the Achievement message pop up, even if it detracts slightly from the immersion. MarketTantrik
Nope. This still doesn't detract from the fact that HL2 is gonna be at its best on the PC and playing TF2 and Portal on the PC is gonna be way better than on any of the consoles. Plus, you're gonna way more players online on Steam than on Live and PSN combined.
