KnackChap
HALO 3 Developers:Bungie Publishers:Microsoft Genre:FPS Players:1-4 Platform(s):Xbox360 Release Date:25th sep 07 The epic saga continues with Halo 3, the hugely anticipated third chapter in the highly successful and critically acclaimed Halo franchise. Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax. Taking full advantage of the power of Xbox 360, Halo 3 expands on everything that has made the Halo franchise great, adding a wealth of graphical, technical and gameplay advancements, as well as offering a whole new level of online gameplay. Official Halo3 Website IGN preview After a brief loading screen (during which particles come together to form a halo), we were thrown into the game's first level, which will be called Sierra 117. Jarrard was playing on the Heroic difficulty, starting at what was being referred to as "Rally Point Alpha." We were told that the part we were seeing was actually about a third of the way into the level, as they didn't want to ruin the opening for us. What we did notice right off the bat was the fact that while we were playing as Master Chief, our old buddy the Arbiter was fighting right alongside us and had a green arrow above his head that allowed us to spot him at any time. We asked Frankie about the, ahem, possibility of playing with a friend who was controlling the Arbiter, and he mentioned that, yes, that sure would be cool. Damn you Frankie! If you've got any qualms about the visual fidelity of the single-player game, let's just put those to rest right off the bat. The segment we saw took place in a lush forest, where tall trees cut off a good deal of the sunlight and moss grew on just about every available surface. The foliage and textures looked excellent, as did the "god rays" that beamed down through gaps in the canopy. We came upon a number of napping Grunts, and Jarrard quickly and quietly beat them to death with the butt of his Battle Rifle (this was the starting weapon in this demo, with the pistol acting as the player's secondary weapon)..............................................With that, our all-too-brief Halo 3 single-player demo ended, and the lights were brought up. Nearly everyone in attendance agreed that this was the footage that Microsoft should have closed the press conference with, as it surely would have impressed just about everyone in attendance. The game is definitely shaping up nicely, and the single-player campaign looks much better than the multiplayer. We'll be bringing you more information on Halo 3 later this afternoon, as we'll be checking out some different elements during our E3 meeting with Microsoft. Invictus
It's one of the most infamous screenshots in Xbox history. An early screen grab showed Master Chief wielding a flamethrower. That awesome weapon never made it into the original Halo or Halo 2, much to the chagrin of fans. Good news Halo faithful, Master Chief will finish the fight packing the ultimate Covenant toasting device. The flamethrower has made its way into Halo 3. You may now call in sick the week of September 25. For those who have grown fond of the bubble shield, O'Connor confirmed that the gadget will provide safe haven from fire. "It will wash over the shield. It will actually burn on the surface of the shield." http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/812/812177p1.html
Invictus
http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/812/812230p1.html Our friends on the other side of the building at TeamXbox have spotted several people on Xbox Live playing "Halo 3 Epsilon." Epsilon is the fifth letter in the Greek alphabet. Whereas alpha and beta are used to refer to software that is earlier in development, epsilon is apparently used to designate code that is close to its final build. Invictus
Gamespot with Bungie writer Frank O'Connor. GS: Why extend co-op to four players this time? Come on, four Master Chiefs? FO: Nope. One Master Chief, one Arbiter, and two brand-new Elites: N'tho 'Sraom and Usze 'Taham, respectively. Only one player actually plays as a Spartan in co-op. And yes, that would be the host. GS: How are you balancing the four-player gameplay? Will the difficulty scale increase with the number of players in a co-op game? FO: We've actually included a whole layer of ways to make co-op more challenging. But the first and most important step for players is to forget that easy and normal even exist. If you have any chutzpa at all, you might as well forget heroic while you're at it. Real men (and ladies) play co-op on legendary. We'll reveal more about the other stuff later this month. GS: You've mentioned the multiplayer in Halo 3 is visually less complex and impressive than the campaign. What graphical corners did you have to cut to keep performance consistent in multiplayer matches? FO: Actually that's a mischaracterization. We would never state that our MP levels look "less impressive" since they all look pretty darned nice. What we have said is that MP maps require a different, cleaner aesthetic as a baseline in order to achieve a good balance of visibility, playability, and clarity. We certainly don't go as bananas with atmospherics and cover as we do in Campaign, but the overall aesthetic of the game should not be jarring when switching from MP to Campaign; it should feel familiar and correct to Halo's visual style. So in fact, we don't cut corners at all. We carefully plan line of sight, elevation, and so on, and let our artists build beautiful new multiplayer spaces. We certainly don't go as bananas with atmospherics and cover as we do in Campaign, but the overall aesthetic of the game should not be jarring when switching from MP to Campaign; it should feel familiar and correct to Halo's visual style. didnt it in short mean that the 'Game experience might be different during multiplayer' Link

MarketTantrik
Halo 3 to include FIREBOMB and FLAMETHROWER from Xbox360fanboy ___________________________________________ Super juicy Halo 3 details hit the internet tonight when IGN received some exclusive information about two "hot" new weapons that'll grace our Halo 3. The two new weapons are the Halo CE flamethrower and a new grenade type called the firebomb with both being available in campaign and multiplayer. So, onto the details. Everyone's favorite flamethrower will be treated as a third person weapon (think turret gun and missile pod), so you'll walk slower but you'll be able to shoot out a liquid stream of fire that can burn pillars, warthogs or the occasional bubble shield (no joke!). The second fiery weapon is the firebomb which acts very similar to the flamethrower's liquid fire, but more convenient and will be the fourth grenade type. Even cooler is the fact that the firebomb's fire will burn on the ground for a while allowing players to create walls of fire or traps in multiplayer. Suhweet! Head over to IGN to get all the specifics and details about the two new weapons everyone will be using to burn their opponents this September. __________________________________________________________

MarketTantrik
New Halo 3 Map "Narrows" revealed From Xbox360 Fanboy http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/08/16/ha...rrows-revealed/ __________________________________________ It's that time again, time to add another deadly location to our growing list of confirmed Halo 3 multiplayer maps. Late last night, IGN posted exclusive details and screenshots about the latest multiplayer map to be revealed, Narrows. Narrows is a completely original map where battle takes place on a long, narrow Forerunner bridge that is embedded into two cliffs over a gaping void. The map is symmetrical, features multiple levels and has two man cannons placed on each side of the bridge allowing opponents to fly through the air straight into eachother's path. Head on over to IGN for more Narrows images and get a feel for what combat is headed your way. Oh, and please watch your step. __________________________________________ Get ready to Rock and Rumble !!
MarketTantrik
Rumored Halo 3 Epsilon details From Xbox360 Fanboy http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/08/14/ru...psilon-details/ _____________________________________ Our friends at Xbox-Scene have received some new details on Halo 3 Epsilon, which was spotted on several gamercards last week. According to an anonymous tipster has informed Xbox-Scene that Halo 3 Epsilon is a downloadable version of Halo 3 with lots of gameplay options. Think of it as the Halo 3 Beta Plus. Epsilon gives you access to multiplayer fun on six maps including Snowbound, High Ground, Valhalla, Last Resort, Epitaph, and Sandtrap. In addition, players get access to custom games and the ability to fully edit game variants. Not only that, but Forge is also available, where players can edit and save map variants. Players can also enjoy four player co-op in a single level of Halo 3's campaign. Finally, the fully functional Saved Films feature is also available, allowing players to save and edit films from all available play modes including Forge. All in all, it's sounds like a pretty sweet deal for those lucky enough to get in on it. We've been checking our inbox obsessively without any luck. We'd ask the lucky bastards playing it to tell us about it, but they're probably sworn to secrecy on pain of death. _____________________________________
