This is by far, one of the best damn JRPGs coming out to India later this month, and I frankly, can't bloody wait, considering I've been waiting for such a long time for this anyway. That, and Eternal Sonata. Been playing the demos for the damn games over and over again, hoping I'd see them soon. Sure, battle system isn't really FF-ish and for the tactically challenged, there doesn't really seem to be a battle timer in Blue Dragon, but the Corporeal finishing moves more than make up for any other flaw in the combat. And yes, I do like this a tad more than Eternal Sonata simply because of the Corporeals, but ES also has a good enough combat system. GAH! Hurry it up and release them already!

Hironobu Sakaguchi FTW!

Eternal Sonata is a really beautiful game. Was playing the demo yeaterday. Visually stunning. And I like the tactical aspect that the light / dark areas bring to the combat. Even positions on the battlefield are important. Brilliant stuff!!

Yup, 3 freaking discs. Looks like Microsoft is all chokey-chokey on the "DVD9 ought to be enough for anyone" quip. ;) Idiots! Reminds me of Star Ocean and Grandia III all over again, swapping discs in and out of the console. Sheesh!

MUST NOT BUY

Oh noes, he's using his Force Powers to persuade me not to buy the game. My will is failing. I have no will of my own.. my own.. my own.. :P

Yeah, ES is really good too, although I don't really a point to the Score sessions, except to get more goodies. I expected the characters that I talked to in the village to give me some side quests that I can perform, since the 2 hour Blue Dragon had spoiled me rotten, but alas, no. Yeah, as for the positioning, I now wait until all the characters turn away from me and then I attack them from behind so that the battle starts with those idiots facing away from me, so they can't Chance block my attacks. Of course, some of them actually try to get around me as well, but since their Battle Timer is running out, they can't do more than one attack and no combos. Whee, what fun! :D

I must say though, I wonder how Beat's Night Shot is going to work. I'd rather swap it out for something that can actually cause damage. My favorite still remains Allegretto's Sun Slash. Damn, that thing just rips apart everything! Never had to use a Peach Cookie or Angel Trumpet even once in the demo.. :( Too easy the demo was.

As for Blue Dragon, man, unleashing the Corporeal attacks and getting into a Monster Fight is just too good to pass up. Loved it when the Glowering Imps just tore through the Steelcrusher Leopards in just one bite. :P But of course, as with any JRPG that's undergone an English translation, the dialogues and plot are enough to make you think you caught the latest time warp to the "What happen? All your base are belong to us" era of idiotic dialogues. Oh well, its the combat that we want anyway. Crap, still almost 15 days to go before the full game is released here. I wonder if it will also retail for 1895! :D

IGN reviews Blue Dragon: 7.9 overall

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/812/812365p1.html

6.5 Presentation

The pacing and story are unlikely to be well received by the majority of the American audience.

8.0 Graphics

It looks nice but could use a lot of work to make it run smoothly.

7.0 Sound

That boss music gets seriously annoying.

7.5 Gameplay

Classic RPG gameplay with a few nice touches.

8.0 Lasting Appeal

Go ahead and try to get all of the achievements.

7.9 Good OVERALL

(out of 10 / not an average)

I loved this game. Played the Jap version when it first came out and for some strange reason my box used to hang. I eventually picked up the HK release and enjoyed this game for a good 9 days before I 1K'd it. I have yet to check out the PAL which I have sitting at my desk with Bioshock.

Trusty Bell/Eternal Sonata was a bit of a let down for me. It was just too fast and easy (Jap version). It was just took 4-5 days to complete and I could have done it faster if I tried.

Despite the poor scores, I think I will get this game. Too hard to resist a Sakaguchi game, Toriyama art and Uematsu music.

Ah, the fanboy in me will drive me bankrupt

get the other dragon game

its more....uumm.......aa......real.

Hmmm. what a Hades choice....

Lair v/s Blue Dragon..

Are you outta your mind? You cant really compare these two just because they revolve around Dragons.

My vote is for Blue Dragon coz I am partial towards Jap RPGs.

The quote on one of the review website on Lair calling the dragon a "reskinned TIE Fighter or X-Wing" was enough to put me off this game.

Not comparing both games, but blue dragon in all honestly is just another jrpg.lair atleast from what i hv seen offers something fresh.not saying that lair will be a better game but im more excited about it.

Please dont quote that gayGM xwing thing ,they have had to do some major face saving ever since that review.
