Developer: Neversoft

Platforms: 360, PS3, Wii and PS2

Publisher: Activision

Release: 2009

The fifth main entry to the Guitar Hero series was announced in December 2008, with confirmation of its release by the end of 2009 coming in May 2009, along with the announcement of other new Guitar Hero titles.

The Party Play mode was inspired by recognizing that past Guitar Hero games made it difficult to jump into without maneuvering through a number of menus and selection screens. The mode was designed to be used at social gatherings, and was adopted to use whatever instrument controllers that players already had available, thus allowing for various other combinations beyond the standard four-person band. This aspect of the game was then brought to the other band modes to allow the game to remain flexible.

Soundtrack

Songs from 85 musicians will be on the game disk. Tracks from thirty artists will represent their "music-rhythm video game debut".[3] Brian Bright, project director for the game, has called the track list "fresh", with 25% of the songs released in the last 18 months, and more than 50% from the current decade. Unlike previous versions of the Guitar Hero series, where players must work through a career mode to unlock all the songs in the game, all songs in Guitar Hero 5 will be unlocked and available to play in any mode from the start, similar to Guitar Hero: Metallica. In addition, existing downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour will be forward-compatible with Guitar Hero 5; the existing content will be automatically upgraded to include all features new to Guitar Hero 5, but this does not apply to a limited number of songs.

The following songs have been confirmed as part of Guitar Hero 5's track list. Songs from Alter Bridge, Band of Horses, Beastie Boys, blink-182, Blur, Bush, Coldplay, Darkest Hour, Duran Duran, Gorillaz, Iron Maiden, Jimmy Eat World, Kiss, Muse, The Raconteurs, and Wild Cherry are also said to be in the game.

Im hoping the soundtrack in the game is better than the one in Guitar Hero: World Tour because honestly, WT's was horrible

Guitar Hero 2 was awesome. Guitar Hero 3 was great. And that was it for me. Do not want anymore Guitar Hero.

Btw, this is only game and guitar, right? Coz I believe they are releasing a Band Hero game.

peace

Does this mean that we are facing extinction of good rock/metal songs :wOOtjumpy:

From this it looks like we will have "Pop Hero" in the next decade

Donno how it will work :P

Actually my bad. Band Hero is the "Pop Hero" game. Here's how Activision describes it

The franchises’ first E10+ rated console game, Band Hero delivers an exciting music collection featuring top-40 hits designed to expand the experience to a new genre and appeal to a broad family audience who can play together on the guitar, drums, bass and microphone.

If ever a game concept made me want to throw up, that was it.

peace

Guitar hero 3 was amazing with its track list...strickenn-disturbed...metallica-one...rolling stones-paint it black...pearl jam-even flow...and my favourite...slipknot-before i forget...

NOt sure about World Tour...im still toying with the idea to buy it or not...there are some songs in there that are must haves for me..like eye of the tiger, sweet home alabama, santeria, the tools songs,BYOB...as always the music in these games all depend on personal choice so cant argue whose soundtrack is better...

I preferred GH2. Enjoyed playing that a lot more.

peace

the point that all the songs in the game were actually "made as famous by" instead of the originals ruined the game for me.
