Here’s how you can become a Microsoft Xbox MVP

Love the Xbox 360? Want to spread the good word and help grow India’s Xbox community? Microsoft’s MVP (Most Valuable Professional) program recognises professionals from around the world who have excelled in their individual fields and have helped grow user communities related to Microsoft products and services, from software programming to Microsoft Office to Xbox.

I had the privilege of being India’s first Xbox MVP, and it really is an honor to be part of this exclusive group. I got a chance to interact and share ideas with the likes of Major Nelson, got early preview and review codes for Xbox games, and several other perks that only the MVP program offers. And now you have the opportunity to join the much improved Xbox MVP program. Here’s what being an Xbox MVP will entitle you to (amongst other things):

  • Preview unreleased Xbox games
  • Participate in beta programs for Xbox software.
  • Get exclusive codes to redeem goodies on Xbox LIVE.
  • Opportunities to network with the best in the business, including Xbox game developers.

Before you go ahead and register, here’s what Microsoft is looking for in an MVP:

An MVP is a community leader who actively provides solutions to community members and leads by creating something extraordinary in the gaming community e.g. podcast, reviews, blog, writes indie games. The nomination for the same is followed by rigorous evaluation by the Xbox 360 team to evaluate community impact that leads to MVP Award.

MVPs are independent of Microsoft, with separate opinions and perspectives, and are able to represent the views of the community members with whom they engage every day.

You can nominate yourself to become a Microsoft MVP. The closing date for nominations is January 21, 2011.

For details on the MVP program, make sure you join the exclusive webcast session on January 13, 2011 at 1.00 PM.
