wickedbl0ke
I have a local internet connection broadband that I have set up with a router at home. When I switch it on, the router starts up. But when I need to access the internet, I first need to login the user name and password that my provider gave me. Can i bypass this? Coz if i want to play on my ps3, then I have to start the PC first. Its a hassle. How can i activate the net to start as soon as I turn the router on? Shantz
There are multiple ways. 1. If login is through a website, you can do it through ps3 browser 2. if it is a PPPoE connection, then you can put login username/pwd in router 3. If it is a website, and you have a hackable router, then you can run a script on the router to auto login through http. (I use this method)

If it is a web based id/pwrd login, u can use PS3 browser to log in else if the client is installed in ur PC then you would need to switch it on and it cant be by passed. Shantz
DUDE Explain methods 2 and 3 please. Method 2 means that if you are using a dialer sort of program to login through PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet) on your PC, instead of that you can do the same on a lot of routers that have this option built in. Search for PPPoE in your router settings and you can enter your username/pwd there and it should log you in whenever router switches on. Method 3 means that you will have to do slight reverse engineering to find out the exact way in which the login is done (if done through a website). This can be very easy to very involved depending on the site. Then the same procedure that you manually do with website can be replicated by a script (using perl or curl or even wget) which can be run on your router automatically when it switches on. But, of course, for this you need a router which can be flashed with a custom firmware like dd-wrt etc because for sure, you won't have all the needed things in a factory default router. Edit: For method 3, you can see the way I do it for my ISP as an example here: http://tech.shantanugoel.com/2010/04/14/beam-cable-automatic-login.html
